Another reason for demanding that the Judiciary be held accountable. Unfettered discretion to decide sentencing for sexual offences breeds impunity.
#ProtectSurvivors
Join us this Friday as we march to the office of the Chief Justice to present a petition asking the Supreme Court to uphold Mandatory minimum sentencing and protect survivors of sexual violence.
In 2021, 9,484 children were defiled. Despite the in-humaneness of these acts, the High Court and Court of Appeal recently declared that mandatory minimum sentences for sexual offences are unconstitutional.
Join us in holding the state accountable for protection of survivors of sexual violence.

This is timely! I really hope that the Supreme court will grant the orders sought in public interest. The current precedent claws back on the gains made over the years to ensure that genderbased violence is treated with the urgency and weight it deserves.
