Here is the reality we are fighting against. According to Uganda's own Crime Reports, mob action killings rose from 746 in 2019 to 953 in 2022 to 1,039 in 2023. Uganda's CID 2025 Annual Crime Report recorded 950 mob action deaths, making it the second leading cause of murder in this country, behind only assault. That means that on average, nearly 3 Ugandans are killed by mobs every single day. Most of them die and the world moves on. The mobs scatter, the families bury their loved ones in silence and nothing changes.
But Sydney is different, not because his life mattered more than theirs, because every single one of those lives was sacred and irreplaceable but because this time we are awake, we are organised and we have a real opportunity to turn one man's murder into a revolution that ends this vice for good.
A public trial is bigger than a verdict, It is a declaration to every Ugandan that no mob, no crowd, no group of goons gets to play God on our streets. It changes behaviour, It saves future lives and It is the loudest possible message that this will never be tolerated again.
Sydney's murder did not just take a life, It traumatised all of us and we all felt it. That trauma deserves to heal in public, together, the same way it was inflicted on us in public. A public trial gives us that space to grieve together, to process together and to say together, as one nation, NEVER AGAIN.
So if you have not signed, please sign now. If you have signed, share it everywhere. Your family group chat, story, feed, tag your friends and leaders. 45,749 people have already said enough is enough. Let us make that number so loud it cannot be ignored.
This is for Sydney, every victim before him and every Ugandan who could be next, because a mob has no criteria and no mercy.

🚨Dear Ugandans on X,
Keep those Sydney tweets coming in. Don't stop until we get justice!!
This case cannot be buried and forgotten like the others. An innocent rugby star lost his life, let's push until every killer is behind bars.
Justice for Sydney Gongodyo!!!
For once,let’s snitch together.
Sydney’s killer is out there, probably working nights, thinking we’ll move on. We won’t. Uganda is big, but when we watch together, it gets small fast. Seen him? Heard him? Know the boda? Say something.

APPRECIATION:
The family of Mr. Gyabi James and Nancy Kakai wishes to express their deepest gratitude to all friends, relatives and in-laws who stood with them when they lost their beloved son, Sydney Gyabi Gongodyo.
RIP Sydney
Please, these men who attacked Sydney last deserve to be arrested and held accountable. We all need to keep sharing their photos and speaking up before the momentum dies down. Sydney deserves justice. 😩💔🕊️
You played your part King. Now it's upon us to continue with your legacy of kindness and gentleness.
This is the lesson I have chosen to learn from the life of Gongodyo Sydney #GS7
Rest In Power King 👑
That photo of Sydney’s lifeless body with concrete blocks on his head is soo heart wrenching and shows how evil these people are . If we were able to find Obed, we can also find those who delivered the final blows…if we keep pushing for justice. ✊🏿💔🕊️ #JusticeForSydney
IMPORTANT UPDATE!
The "Justice for Sydney Gongodyo" Petition on https://t.co/T7PLKmlqE9 is temporarily closed to prevent confusion, as donation prompts on the platform do not go to the family. A formal request has been submitted to https://t.co/T7PLKmlqE9 to remove this feature to ensure transparency before reopening the petition.
The initiative remains focused on gathering signatures for a public trial for his KILLERS, and not fundraising. Verified details for supporting the family directly will be shared soon.
Thank you for your love and generosity BUT let’s make sure it goes to the right place. 🙏🏾 🖤

You lived by the words ‘Manners maketh man,’ and even in your final moments, you remained true to them. You didn’t fight back you only raised your hands to shield yourself. 💔 The kindness, humility, and grace you showed until the very end will never be forgotten. Perhaps this world didn’t deserve a heart as beautiful as yours, and that’s why God called you home.@PoliceUg Please let’s find the men that hit him with bricks and concrete blocks so we don’t fail our champion as a nation . 🕊️🤍
We have buried @GongodyoSidney Now we demand justice.
Some of his killers are still out there. The hooligans who set upon my brother on 5th June 2026 and took his life in a cowardly mob attack are walking free. That ends now.
We are not asking for revenge. We are asking for the LAW to do its job. In public. In open court. Where all of Uganda can watch.
We have launched a petition demanding a public mobile court trial at the very scene of the crime for every single person involved in Sydney's murder. Sign it. Share it. Make noise.

To @UgandaPolice arrest all the perpetrators. To @DPP_Uganda prosecute them to the fullest extent of the law and seek the maximum penalty. To @Educ_SportsUg@NCSUganda@UgandaRugby your voices are needed RIGHT NOW!
Do not call it mob justice. There is no justice in what they did. Calling it justice is an insult to the word. This was MURDER. Treat it as such.
Sydney was a son, a father, a teammate, a rugby star and a future Captain of this Nation. He deserved to live. His family deserves justice. Uganda deserves better.
Sign. Share. Do not let this fade. 🙏🏾
