Ok but for many they avoid starvation and homelessness only because of family and social services. Because actual work requires people to have experience to get experience, etc., etc.

Now are some driven by greed and envy? Sure! But others want to fix the broken system, whichever way it needs to be fixed.

Even when people actually agree with you, they’re not going to starve to death just to follow through. They may not steal themselves but they’ll sign up for social services. The pragmatist works with human nature rather than against it.

That’s the insight of conservative pragmatism.
