Nigeria is a country where it costs about $61 to fill an average saloon car tank, but the average monthly wage is $50. READ THAT AGAIN!!!

Where a business spends ₦200,000 (about $144) every single day on diesel just to stay open, and still needs ₦20M for solar just to have basic electricity. Where that ₦20M could have created jobs, expanded operations, built wealth but instead, it replaces what should already exist.

Where rent increases by 300–600% while salaries remain stagnant.

Where teachers earn below minimum wage(50). Where people work every day and still can’t afford to live.

Where food prices keep rising, and somehow my cousins in the UK and US buy certain food items cheaper than we do here. Do you know how terrible that sounds?

Where data doesn’t last, the Internet is unstable, yet I still have to show up every single day in Web3, building, contributing, trying to stay visible in a global space from a system that makes it 10x harder.

Where you’re pushing, showing up, doing your best with zero funds, failing infrastructure, and real-life pressure closing in.

Where personal businesses shut down not because of lack of vision, but because the environment makes sustainability almost impossible.

Where doctors perform surgeries with phone flashlights because hospitals don’t have stable power.

Where the power sector itself admits the crisis is beyond control and you’re left to figure it out on your own.

Where communities are attacked, homes are burned, and even areas close to the capital are not safe.

Where students are tear-gassed, harassed, and treated like threats in their own country.

Where the people meant to protect you often become another source of fear.

Where women are not safe, and cases of violence are either ignored, excused, or forgotten.

Where frustration sounds like: “I’m mentally stressed” “I hate being Nigerian”. And honestly, it’s hard to blame them.

Because in this country, nothing works the way it should.

You generate your own electricity. You secure your own environment. You create your own alternatives to broken systems.

Banks fail - POS steps in.
Power fails - generators and solar takes over.
Security fails - you fend for yourself.
Everything becomes personal responsibility.

And somehow, we’ve started calling this resilience.
We celebrate survival like it’s success. We normalize struggle like it’s culture. We turn coping into content.

But let’s be honest.
This is not resilience.
This is exhaustion.
This is a system that has made survival expensive, progress difficult, and dignity optional.

This is a country where you can do everything right and still struggle to stay afloat.

And the most dangerous part is not even the hardship anymore.
