Retired rancher
Big Oil contracting bought us a ranch
I rode their Broncs for them and they paid me well
But if they asked me to herd sheep, I moved along
@dbfarms2023 I would leave that baby in the field to sweat for a minute. Even if it doesn't eventually burn, 19% will get you lotsa mold dust come feeding time..........
@vitamindees I made a vow to myself that I would find a way to poach my favorite utterance of the day from Mike in Costa Rica (@GetOuttaHeah), "An extremely punchable face." Many of the Elbows crowd possess that specific quality in my estimation........
@RTD8690@Taxpayers1234@JohnLeePettim13 True, it certainly is different today. If you were job hunting in 1984, you remember the technique of buying the newspaper to look for job postings in the Jobs section. Some things are new constraints to finding a job. Some old constraints to finding a job have vanished........
@RTD8690@Taxpayers1234@JohnLeePettim13 A man can say, "That's impossible!"
or
A man can also say, "I can do that!"
In both cases, he is correct.........
@JerodMcDaniel Yep. I did commercial hay. Some used to try to hold onto inventory to get the best price. I sold for a good price right out of the field. This eliminated at least two handlings, no spoilage & I had the money in the bank within a week. Misunderstood costs can kill profit........
@RTD8690@Taxpayers1234@JohnLeePettim13 Don't get lost in the details. It was John's confidence and resourcefulness that got him that job. Not the exact technique of how he got it.........
@bannedchamp1@JohnLeePettim13 Confidence is a universally desirable asset in business. Telling someone you are the man for the job is vastly different than begging them for that job. I learned the difference in technique in country bars talking to pretty lasses back when I was 20 something.........
@bannedchamp1@JohnLeePettim13 It is true he likely didn't give a fork as you suggest, but he also didn't want to invest any more time on the candidate screening than he had to. I made it to top 2 candidates and got an interview with that call. Got the job........
@bannedchamp1@JohnLeePettim13 Fast forward to 2010. I sent in an application for a job, then followed up by calling and asking for who in HR was handling the XYZ hiring. I called him directly and gave him a pitch about I was worried my Resume did not highlight a particular skill I had enough so I would call.
@JohnLeePettim13 In 1982 i had a bud that quit a good job to go traveling. I marched down to his workplace & talked my way in to his old boss's office. I told him I was here for Tod's job, had the same training & could start anytime. He looked me over & asked if I could start this Friday.......
@JohnLeePettim13 You have pointed out another trait that has been lost. Looking for a job aggressively. Today, that involves filling out endless applications. In times past, your (and my) technique was not common but still quite productive........
@AliciaAmarilyn If you are anything like me, you will eat him up and be thankful for the nutrition. Then the next one that is ready to be butchered, you will haul him to market instead. Older intact rams are not an 18 month old lamb in the culinary realm.......
@VanIsleInvestor Yesir. Every day at the moment my finger caresses the Sell button on the O&G part of my portfolio. I've drank in the Oil bar many times. Reliably cyclic. But I am expecting Brent to hold value through the summer. Buy low sell high requires selling as well as buying.........
@umesh_gandhi007@itschrisray@SloCan68 Thanks for the Ted Talk Umesh. It allowed my subconscious mathematician self to slap some sense into my conscious dummy LFG self. In hindsight, doing as you suggested (do nothing) has been very profitable........
