We are disappointed but not surprised. The carceral system is about oppression, not rights. It is about social control, not safety.
The system is working as intended.

The Supreme Court of Canada has upheld the constitutionality of laws criminalizing “procuring” and “materially benefiting” from sex work.
These laws jeopardize #SexWorkersRights and safety by stopping us from legally accessing necessary supports and protection.
While the ruling allows for sex workers to directly hire supports (such as security or drivers), these options are only accessible to the most resourced workers, leaving everyone else behind.
The bleak irony? This is done in the name of *preventing* exploitation and abuse.
Thank you so much to the Astoria Garden!

Do you have a phone to share?
A working cell phone is a frequent request for WISH’s InReach team — but right now we don't have any for street-based sex workers in need.
Help increase safety by donating your used cell phone to WISH participants.

Today marks the 50th #InternationalSexWorkersDay
This worldwide protest was sparked in 1975 by the collective action of 200 women. They occupied a church in France and demanded equal treatment.
Fifty years later, this movement is still urgently needed.
Food is an essential part of programming at WISH.
Your help is needed so street-based sex workers can count on WISH for food, care, and connection.
Support WISH today — and provide a warm meal tonight.
