Thank you @SenatorDurbin and @SenCapito for reintroducing the RISE from Trauma Act. This legislation helps coordinate community responses and support services for the nearly 35 million children who have experienced trauma and nearly two-thirds who have been exposed to violence.
Threats to federal funding have immediate and severe consequences for survivors and their children, the programs they rely on, and the advocates who help them. Congress must act now to protect the lifesaving services survivors depend on!
#FundSafetyNow#SupportSurvivors
We call on the Administration and Congress to work together toward a bipartisan solution to end the government shutdown to ensure funding for prevention and lifesaving services for survivors of sexual assault and domestic violence without compromising health care for survivors.
From being followed to receiving unwanted attention to feeling concerned for their safety, more than 1 in 5 women and 1 in 10 men in the U.S. have experienced stalking.
The latest data from @cdc’s NISVS make clear: Stalking is a public health issue. https://t.co/ZyDA45TuIG
It’s the guns! ~100 million more guns are in the hands of civilians since 2012 when 26 children/educators were hunted/killed by a gunman with an AR15. In 1990, only 1.2% of guns being produced were AR15s. Now, it’s 25%. Where there are more guns, there are more gun deaths!
We must not remain silent in the face of rising division and extremism. And we must continue to work to find common ground that recognizes our shared humanity.
FUTURES loudly denounces all acts of political violence and hate. And we call on our elected leaders to do the same.
2 / Domestic violence is deadly. More than half of female homicide victims are killed by a current or former male partner. It’s also a leading cause of death during pregnancy for women.

1 / Domestic violence – including physical, sexual, emotional, economic abuse, and coercion – is a national crisis, affecting 1 in 3 women, and 1 in 4 men in the U.S. Over 15 million children are exposed to domestic violence each year. https://t.co/Bvkeak0tvr
7 / FUTURES works with professionals across industries – from healthcare to the judiciary, coaches and educators, to workplaces and child welfare workers – to improve their ability to recognize, prevent, and respond to DV. Go to our website for resources.

6 / The good news is that decades of attention and investment to domestic violence – the result of survivors & advocates lifting their voices and advocacy – has made a difference. Domestic violence has declined by over 60% over the past few decades.

And remember: It doesn't have to be this way! There are common sense, broadly supported ways to reduce gun violence: ban assault weapons, require safe storage, keep guns away from abusers, fund community prevention and intervention, and help children heal. #EndGunViolence
Our hearts are with the children and all affected by the Annunciation School shooting in Minneapolis.
Guns are the #1 killer of U.S. children. Almost 400,000 more have experienced gun violence at school since the 1999 Columbine shooting.
