The NGX sectors and what drives each one:

Banking: earns more when interest rates rise.

Telecom: data consumption climbs every year.

Oil and gas: moves with global crude prices.

Consumer goods: people eat in every economy.

Spread across a few of these, and one bad sector can’t sink your whole portfolio.

Let me clear up the terms first, then the exact steps.

The two IDs people confuse:

CHN (Clearing House Number): your unique investor ID in the Nigerian capital market. It should be the same across all platforms and brokers.

CSCS Account Number: assigned by each broker for that specific relationship. It's normal to have different CSCS numbers with different brokers, but they should all link back to the same CHN.

If your numbers show differently, you likely need to confirm them and possibly merge duplicate CHNs.

Step 1: Retrieve your details.

Dial *7270# on your phone (works well on MTN, expanding to others) to check your CHN without internet. Or check inside your broker apps, or log into the official CSCS portal at https://t.co/Lmspy5PjlG

Step 2: Contact your stockbroker.

Ask them to confirm your CHN and the CSCS account number linked to your holdings. They can usually fix minor mismatches on their end.

Step 3: If you have multiple different CHNs.

CSCS allows merging. You'll need a formal letter of authority to CSCS stating which CHN to keep as primary, a valid ID, proof of address, and payment of ₦3,225 to Central Securities Clearing System, 2036325225, First Bank. Keep the receipt.

Submit documents and receipt to [email protected] or through your broker. Processing takes time, so follow up politely.

Step 4: For the unclaimed dividends.

Search your name on the SEC portal at https://t.co/731nztTAbG. Note the Registrar for each dividend, then download and submit the e-Dividend Mandate Form for that registrar with your passport photo, valid ID and bank details.

Important:

Use official channels only. Never send money or personal details to anyone in your DMs.

If the shares belong to a late relative, you'll need extra documents like letters of administration or probate.

For help: CSCS on 0700 2255 2727 or [email protected]. But start with your broker, they handle most updates.

Once you have one harmonized CHN with linked CSCS details, all future dividends and claims become much smoother.

Most people judge clothes on Temu by the photos.

Big mistake.

The fastest way to avoid buying clothes that feel like cheap plastic is to ignore the pictures and read the Fabric Composition.

Here's a simple cheat sheet:

Avoid (unless blended well)
• 100% Polyester
• 95% Polyester, 5% Spandex
• Cheap synthetic blends

Run away.

These are usually thin, shiny, trap heat, build static, and often feel like swimwear instead of actual clothing.

Look for
• Modal (extremely soft)
• Combed Cotton
• Ring-Spun Cotton
• 100% Cotton
• Viscose/Rayon (soft and smooth)

If you're shopping for specific items:

Jeans:
Search "100% Cotton Denim", "Heavyweight Denim", or "Rigid Denim".

Dress shirts:
Search "Oxford Cotton", "Cotton Poplin", or "100% Cotton Dress Shirt".

Jackets:
Search "Heavyweight", "Fleece Lined", or "Wool Blend".

Vintage clothes:
Look for Corduroy, Heavy Knit, or Washed Cotton.

One last trick that saves me money every time:

Never trust the product photos.

Go straight to the reviews, filter by "With Photos", and look at pictures uploaded by real buyers. That's where you'll see what the fabric actually looks and feels like.

Also look out for promos, you can get stuff for cheap and free packages for a cheap price.

Simple breakdown:

• Core i3 / i5 / i7 = Laptop power level
i3 = basic use
i5 = best for most people

But here’s the real trick…

Generation matters more than i3/i5/i7.

A 13th Gen i5 can be faster than an old 7th Gen i7.

Read that again.

That “cheap Core i7 laptop” some sellers hype?
It may actually be old, slow, and a bad deal.

Then storage:

• HDD = very slow
• SSD = fast
• NVMe SSD = lightning fast

Rule of thumb:
Never buy a laptop with HDD in 2026 unless you enjoy suffering.

Bottom line:

I have exercised caution, and it is necessary to be wary because social media has indeed been flooded with t£rr0r!st apologists and sympathizers who weaponize information against our security forces. However, the public also deserves to know when our troops are making progress.

According to multiple security sources, the military operation in Oyo State has reached a critical phase. Troops have effectively surrounded the hideout within the National Park forest corridor where the 39 abducted schoolchildren and 7 teachers are being held. Security forces have blocked all possible escape routes, creating a containment environment that has significantly restricted the k!dn@pp£rs' movement.

The pressure is working. The t£rr0r!sts, initially demanding the release of detained Ansaru commanders Mahmud Usman 'Abu Bara'a' and Abubakar Abba 'Isah Adam' and likely a ransom payment, have now dropped most of their demands. They are reportedly now focused mainly on ransom negotiation a route I know the government will not take. This shift is a clear sign of desperation as the military noose tightens.

The reluctance to share this update is understandable. But perhaps we can use it wisely to remind Nigerians that our troops are advancing, to counter the narrative of helplessness, and to urge citizens to pray for the safe return of the victims and the success of our forces. The operation has not been without cost; soldiers have paid the ultimate price in this rescue mission, including a lieutenant. But our resolve remains unshaken.

How to build a stock portfolio from zero with ₦50,000 a month.

Month 1 to 3: Don’t buy any stock yet.

Put ₦50,000 monthly into a money market fund. Build ₦150,000 as your starting capital while you learn how the market works.

Month 4: Your first buy.

One solid bank. Zenith or GTCO. Put in ₦50,000.

Month 5: Your second buy.

A different sector this time. A consumer name or Dangote Cement. Another ₦50,000.

Month 6: Your third buy.

MTN, or a strong industrial stock. ₦50,000 again.

Month 7 and beyond: Now you build.

Keep adding ₦50,000 monthly, and put it into whichever of your stocks is cheapest at the time. You buy low without even trying.
