Japan’s most wanted man once gave himself plastic surgery using box cutters and scissors to evade police after k*lling a British teacher.

A British teacher lay buried in a sand-filled balcony bathtub while her k*ller slipped past nine police officers into the Japanese night. To stay hidden, he would spend the next two years using scissors, needles, and box cutters to carve a completely new face onto his own skull.

In March 2007, authorities arrived at the apartment of 28-year-old Tatsuya Ichihashi to investigate the disappearance of 22-year-old Lindsay Ann Hawker.

Ichihashi panicked and bolted past the officers barefoot, successfully escaping into the city.

Inside his apartment, police discovered Hawker's body bound and buried in a bathtub filled with sand and soil on his balcony, triggering a massive nationwide manhunt.

To evade capture, Ichihashi began a gruesome process of DIY plastic surgery in public restrooms and cheap hotels.

As he later detailed in his prison memoir, Until the Arrest, he used a needle and thread to tie his nose cartilage into a narrower shape, sliced away pieces of his lower lip with scissors, and used a utility knife to gouge out two identifying moles from his cheek.

He hid his heavily scarred face behind standard surgical masks to blend into the public.

Eventually, Ichihashi worked under a pseudonym as a construction laborer to save money for professional cosmetic procedures, including a nose bridge lift and double eyelid surgery.

His run ended when alert staff at a clinic in Nagoya noticed his suspicious facial scarring and notified the police.

Ichihashi was captured at an Osaka ferry terminal in November 2009 and is currently serving a life sentence for r*pe and m*rder.

Backrooms was directed by 20-year-old Kane Parsons. Only a few years earlier, he had been creating the series alone in his bedroom using free software after teaching himself visual effects through online tutorials.

Despite the original series being almost entirely CGI, the movie production built more than 30,000 square feet of physical Backrooms sets.

The maze-like corridors were so extensive that crew members reportedly got lost while navigating them.

Parsons was obsessed with authenticity, reportedly testing around 50 different wallpaper designs to find the perfect unsettling shade of yellow that fans associated with the Backrooms.

Even after landing a major studio production starring established actors, Parsons remained heavily involved in the creative process, helping compose the soundtrack and bringing his original vision to the big screen.

The Forest of Butovo— Where over 1000 clerics were executed

The Butovo Forest was an execution site of the Soviet secret police located near Drozhzhino in Leninsky District, Moscow Oblast from 1938 to 1953.

Butovo was used for mass executions and mass graves during Joseph Stalin's Great Purge, with 20,761 prisoners of various nationalities documented as being transported to the site and executed.

In the winter of 1937 a group of priests, including an old bishop, were transported in the "black crow" (Stalin's closed trucks of the Communist secret police) to the scene of the execution. The ground was icy, hard as a rock.

The guards, with their faces covered, ordered them to come out. The procedure was regular, cold and fast. However, something happened that the municipalities did not expect.

As they were set at the edge of the plough, the bishop, with a trembling but clear voice, began to sing "Christ is Risen".
The other priests, instead of crying or asking for mercy, joined him. Their chants echoed in the forest, breaking the absolute silence of death.

An officer yelled to stop, marking the bishop in the face. He looked at him in the eyes with a peace that seemed eerie. "We forgive you, my children," he whispered, "for you do not know what you do." Every time a priest fell into the gap, the next would pick up the hymn from where the previous one had left off.

With the last priest standing, the congregations were frozen. It wasn't the fear of death that shook them, but the lack of fear on the part of their victims. The last priest made the sign of the Cross, blessed his shooters, and fell into the pit before the final bullet was even heard.

It is said that for years later, the inhabitants of the surrounding areas avoided approaching the Butovo Forest. They said that at nights, when the wind was blowing from the north, you could still hear the heavenly chants coming from through the earth.

Today, a magnificent temple is erected on that spot. At its foundations are guarded thousands of objects found in the excavations: small crosses, etc., witnesses to a faith not defeated by bullets.
