Julian Assange Archive launches fundraising appeal for 2026 opening exhibition.
The independent Julian Assange Archive @AssangeArchive is dedicated to preserving the global movement that fought to defend liberty by freeing Julian Assange. In recent months, the archive team has catalogued thousands of artifacts including embassy and prison letters, books, artworks, banners, and more.
The archive will be a public resource:
- a permanent physical collection
- a digital collection and catalogue
- an educational programme for schools demonstrating how grassroots action can shape the course of history.
In 2026, the archive will open in Dessau, Germany. The archive seeks your support for the launch and its long term security!

“DATE OF FREEDOM” is a ballpoint pen portrait of Julian Assange, started by Andrei Molodkin in May 2024, before Assange won the right to appeal.
The release date was deliberately left blank, in hope that Julian would complete the work when released.
After his release, he did: 24 JUNE 2024.

"Our first shared experience: a bonfire on the beach."
I'm happy to have contributed with my portrait of Julian Assange to @martaserafini's interview with @GabrielShipton, Julian's brother. You can read the interview in @7Corriere, the supplement of the Italian newspaper @Corriere della Sera, throughout the week.
There's also a small feature on my book "Julian Assange - WikiLeaks and the Fight for Freedom of Information", written with the words of @dariofmorgante and published by @altreconomia .

"Journalism should be more like science. As far as possible, facts should be verifiable. If journalists want long-term credibility for their profession, they have to go in that direction. Have more respect for readers."
