- dear?
I wouldn't mind some company.

( Graceful smile appearing on her lips again as she was - quite obviously - trying to change the subject of conversation. )

[•• 𝑲𝒉𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒆 •°. *࿐ @WlNTERMOTHER]

( It almost sounded reassuring to have someone like him offering help and protection, truly it did.

For this she was grateful.
But her fear was too great.
Too poisonous.

Therefore there was only one answer she could realistically give. )

. . . Thank you, dear. -

[𝐀𝐋𝐋 𝐌𝐈𝐆𝐇𝐓. !҉ @hisymbolofpaix]

( to that answer , toshinori would only stare back in return , a few thoughts going through his mind . .

as much as her words were supposed to be polite & reassuring , it was hard to just leave it at that & move on with their conversation to brighter topics.

he simply —

[•• 𝑲𝒉𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒆 •°. *࿐ @WlNTERMOTHER]

- I will be fine, I'm sure.

We will all be.

( Her.
Her kids.

Toshinori too, surely.
Maybe even Enji.

She wanted to believe they would all be fine, in the end. A naive request, perhaps. But she was done feeling hopeless. )

Would you take a walk with me in town, -

[•• 𝑲𝒉𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒆 •°. *࿐ @WlNTERMOTHER]

- with her own husband's cold blue glance upon her?

Enji's hands weren't tied enough to stop him from hitting.
That was a reality she couldn't just ignore. )

. . . right, nothing can stop you.

( 'But everything can stop me.' )

[•• 𝑲𝒉𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒆 •°. *࿐ @WlNTERMOTHER]

( Obviously, when it came to Rei, there were two main topics.
Her children.
Then Enji.

And the two were too often related.

Considering this, hero work didn't sound that serious.
Except, it was closely linked. )

Of course . . . -

[𝐀𝐋𝐋 𝐌𝐈𝐆𝐇𝐓. !҉ @hisymbolofpaix]

( deep down , toshinori knew that it was only a matter of time because their conversation reached this topic . enji .

he wanted to be careful about it , especially around rei of all people . but since it had been naturally introduced , he would resume his speech . )

well . . —

[•• 𝑲𝒉𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒆 •°. *࿐ @WlNTERMOTHER]

- ( As nice as this could sound, it was still terrifying.

All Might could help the ice hero as much as he wanted, the backlash she would get in private would be absolutely destructive.

How could her trust in All Might ever be stronger than the fear going -

[•• 𝑲𝒉𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒆 •°. *࿐ @WlNTERMOTHER]

- of you, dear, really.

( But her smile disappears, and she looks away once again. )

I'm not sure Enji would be very happy about it though, to be honest.

[•• 𝑲𝒉𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒆 •°. *࿐ @WlNTERMOTHER]

( Face lighting up ever so slightly, the woman cracks a smile.

It feels nice to be supported.
It really does.

Fidgeting with the golden bracelets around her wrists, Rei looks at her feet for a few seconds before she catches his gaze again. )

That would be very nice -

[𝐀𝐋𝐋 𝐌𝐈𝐆𝐇𝐓. !҉ @hisymbolofpaix]

i think all you need is a little support , when it comes to going back to work .

( he smiles , large frame now taking a sit . )

i suppose i shouldn't do it publicly as all might . but if you need help with your action plans or the schedule or your patrolling with —

[•• 𝑲𝒉𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒆 •°. *࿐ @WlNTERMOTHER]

( To be entirely honest, it wasn't just to be a hero or a mother, but to be a Todoroki by marriage.
That was a lot of stress added to her plate. )

You're very sweet . . .
You're right, it's not like I've forgotten how to be hero, but . . .

It does feel nerve-wracking.

[𝐀𝐋𝐋 𝐌𝐈𝐆𝐇𝐓. !҉ @hisymbolofpaix]

( when it came to the hero scene , & how it could affect one's mind . . this toshinori could understand easily .

as for her life as a mother . . he could only imagine . it'd feel disrespectful to comment on something he didn't experience . )

stress is expected in —

[•• 𝑲𝒉𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒆 •°. *࿐ @WlNTERMOTHER]

( Grey eyes looking to the side, hand coming to rub her neck. )

Well, you know . . .

( Ah, she really can't hide anything from him, can she? )

. . . Coming back to the hero life after so many years working on being a mother-

( And failing at that. )

-really is stressful.

[𝐀𝐋𝐋 𝐌𝐈𝐆𝐇𝐓. !҉ @hisymbolofpaix]

( he knows . . even though he tries to hide the bare minimum .

head tilts to the side as his hands hang on his belt . )

are you sure ? the tone of your voice indicates that you're overworked indeed , but i wouldn't say just a little bit .

[•• 𝑲𝒉𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒆 •°. *࿐ @WlNTERMOTHER]

( Being a hero really is like being an actor. )

Why, thank you.
I'm alright, just a little bit overworked.

( By that she means she's under an inconsiderate amount of stress from coming back to the hero life after so many years away from the spotlight. )

[𝐀𝐋𝐋 𝐌𝐈𝐆𝐇𝐓. !҉ @hisymbolofpaix]

( considering his own eyebags that he managed to hide so well , he would never judge . )

i wouldn't be that harsh if i was you . i think you're looking great , for what it's worth for .
but tell me . is everything alright ?

[•• 𝑲𝒉𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒆 •°. *࿐ @WlNTERMOTHER]

( Like she doesn't look like she hasn't slept in a week?

Smiling, still. )

That's very nice of you.
But I'm pretty sure I look terrible today, no matter the amount of makeup.

[𝐀𝐋𝐋 𝐌𝐈𝐆𝐇𝐓. !҉ @hisymbolofpaix]

( pursed lips formed a smile in surprise before he gives a grateful nod . )

why thank you .
i could say the very same about you .

[•• 𝑲𝒉𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒆 •°. *࿐ @WlNTERMOTHER]

You do look radiant.

( As usual, right? )

[𝐀𝐋𝐋 𝐌𝐈𝐆𝐇𝐓. !҉ @hisymbolofpaix]

that's great to hear .
& i'm doing fantastic as usual , no worries on that ! ✨

[•• 𝑲𝒉𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒆 •°. *࿐ @WlNTERMOTHER]

( Well, Enji hasn't shown up yet, so . . . )

I'm doing alright, thank you.
But how are you?

[𝐀𝐋𝐋 𝐌𝐈𝐆𝐇𝐓. !҉ @hisymbolofpaix]

good morning rei .

( a wave of the hand . )

how are you feeling ?

[•• 𝑲𝒉𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒆 •°. *࿐ @WlNTERMOTHER]

Good morning, dear.

[𝐀𝐋𝐋 𝐌𝐈𝐆𝐇𝐓. !҉ @hisymbolofpaix]

GOOD MORNING 🌞

[•• 𝑲𝒉𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒆 •°. *࿐ @WlNTERMOTHER]

If something does happen to Enji, I'll pretend I didn't know.

[•• 𝑲𝒉𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒆 •°. *࿐ @WlNTERMOTHER]

[•• 𝑲𝒉𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒆 •°. *࿐ @WlNTERMOTHER]

Please, do not.

[•• 𝑲𝒉𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒆 •°. *࿐ @WlNTERMOTHER]

I-
I just-

??

aa-??

. . .
. . .
. . .

Do what makes you happy, I suppose . . .

[•• 𝑲𝒉𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒆 •°. *࿐ @WlNTERMOTHER]

Please, no killing my husband.
