Our 8th tornado of the April 14th-15th, 2026, severe weather event, and 13th of 2026 occurred in Washtenaw county. A QLCS couplet tracked down I-94 from Chelsea to the outskirts of Ann Arbor producing straight line wind damage, then produced an EF-1 tornado in the vicinity of Ann Arbor. This is the path of the Ann Arbor EF-1 tornado, which occurred around 1:45 am EDT on April 15th, 2026. Michigan Storm Chasers Observations This tornado was well-documented, and tornado-warned throughout the entire lifespan of the tornado. The tornado itself was on the ground for 1.71 miles. In just two minutes, dozens of buildings and trees were impacted by the tornado, especially around Veterans Memorial Park. The tornado reached a maximum width of 500 yards wide, one of the widest of the night, and thankfully did not result in any injuries or deaths. The tornado lifted just outside of downtown Ann Arbor by less than a half mile. Maximum wind speeds estimated from the tornado were 110 mph. Additional tree damage was denoted east of Ann Arbor, but damage was not due to any additional tornadoes. Official NWS Survey Write-Up "The tornado started in the area of Jackson Ave near Interstate 94. It moved southeast across the interstate and then over Veterans Memorial Park where it produced EF-1 damage. This damage included numerous uprooted and snapped trees, along with snapped stadium light poles. The greatest concentration of EF-1 damage occurred from Jackson Ave though Veterans Memorial Park and into the nearby neighborhoods. The tornado continued through residential areas where there were numerous trees snapped and large downed tree limbs. The damage became more sporadic as... (it) ...continued to the southeast through Virginia Park. Portions of an elementary school roof were blown off before the tornado lifted near W William St and 4th St. Once the tornado had lifted, there was additional damage that occurred from straight line winds at the Yost Ice Arena where the metal roof panels had been pulled from the building." The information in this statement is preliminary and subject to change pending final review of the event and publication in NWS Storm Data.

@Matt_Reynoldson Cute thought…but Trey McKenney, Michigan freshman who Dusty recruited and developed this season, was the second leading scorer for Michigan tonight. Nice try though.
