Great question! Adding any third-party app widens your exposure, so I want to be upfront about that. That said, WMail has no servers that touch your mail: everything is handled locally on your phone, and requests go directly to Fastmail (or your JMAP provider). We never see your emails.

You connect with a scoped API key, stored in the iOS Keychain, which you can revoke any time from your Fastmail account.

The trade-off is no push notifications for new mail, since that would need a server relay. We think that makes for a calmer inbox anyway, and we still send local notifications for in-app actions.
