After 11 years, this evening we have taught our final swimming lesson at Jubilee House.

Although we are excited about the future, there is a tinge of sadness.

This is 15-year-old Mahmood Desai. Mahmood was recently rescued from Ullswater before he nearly drowned. He now wants to help raise awareness of the dangers of open waters.

Too many are sadly still drowning in our waterways, unaware of the deadly dangers of cold water shock and rip currents.

Government must do more to increase water safety, including increasing curriculum content for all children and giving schools sufficient resources for lessons.
