Joe Biden was unironically a great president with a few substantial mistakes (southern border optics and too much far left pandering). I hope we see another president like him soon. I've become what I used to hate and I'm very proud of that.

2024 was the first election I was able to participate in. Being brought up in a Republican household, and living in a MAGA social sphere, I enthusiastically voted for Trump. Now after a year heavily invested in politicts I seriously regret my vote. Trump is insane. Fuck MAGA.

@mtracey To be fair, MAGA is a Frankenstein movement of all sorts of right wing ideologies. There is both a hawkish and isolationist wing of MAGA and this isnt a contradiction in its philosophy (mostly since it has none outside of some dumb chud 'based' aestetic appeal).

Noah is the only one in the discourse who expresses this veiw of the conflict, which I believe is a reasonable perspective if one knows the dynamics of the Israeli right, and Kookian theology (or what its become). I respect him much more now even though he's a big an FDR fan.

IF Israel DOES genocide the Palestinians, this is how I think it'll happen. Settlers will drive Palestinians from their homes en masse, killing many in the process, with quiet but key support from the IDF. I think it's reasonably likely.

@ownthelib @DastDn I largely agree that the Palestinian nationalism is terrible. But I also realize that Israel likely will commit unjustifiable atrocities if the far right nationalists gain power. I consider it a tragedy that such a great country will likely devolve into fascistic violence.

@ownthelib @DastDn Spent 20 years as a modern orthodox jew going to Shul, jewish day school, and yeshiva. Did a gap year in a charedi adjacent yeshiva in Israel. My mom is a Kookian religious Zionist. I speak broken Hebrew. I have married siblings living in Israel. My opinions are highly informed.

@ownthelib @DastDn I agree thats the more likely outcome. I also imagine that in addition to the horrific outcome that would be in itself, it will be coupled with barbaric brutality and callous torment. And probably many many deaths from the Palestinians that resist.
