NEW: The biggest public #Bitcoin miner unplug was hiding in incomplete Q2 data. Now the final numbers are in.
→ $CANG: 44.8 → 15.4 EH/s
→ $IREN: 43.4 → 21.6 EH/s
Together, they shed 51.4 EH/s of realized hashrate in the first half of 2026.
The completed data also makes the industrywide retreat steeper than we initially estimated.
Excluding $BTDR, the cohort’s realized hashrate fell 23.3% from Q4'25 to Q2'26, compared with a 10.6% decline for the Bitcoin network.
These public miners contracted more than twice as fast as the network.
NEW: @RiotPlatforms has secured a $573 million loan facility to fund equipment for its 191 MW Rockdale #AI data center.
The estimated SOFR-based rate is about 6.4%, while the project-level debt matures on Dec. 31, 2026. $RIOT

Missed the first-ever @EIF_Global in Dallas? You missed a room buzzing with big ideas, bold predictions, and a few hard truths about the future of energy and #AI—but we’ve got you covered.
Our recap dives into the conversations everyone’s still talking about: the race to power AI infrastructure, the growing strain on the grid, the evolving role of bitcoin mining, and the complex puzzle of financing and community buy-in.
One takeaway echoed throughout the event: “A grid connection isn’t a golden ticket—it’s just the starting line.” As demand for AI data centers surges, developers are learning that power access alone won’t solve the deeper challenges of scale, reliability, and local support.
From candid insights on grid bottlenecks to sharp perspectives on where capital is flowing next, this recap captures the energy—and the urgency—of the moment.

What if #Bitcoin mining and #AI data centers are actually the same business—just at different stages of evolution?
Our latest infographic (commissioned by @Bitdeer) breaks down the shared “compute stack” behind both and why the lines between them are starting to blur.
"We plow the road."
That’s how #Bitcoin miners described their role in the #AI boom at @TheBitcoinConf in Las Vegas: Not competing with AI data centers — but enabling them.
@fgthiel of @MARA $MARA and @smatthewschultz of @CleanSpark_Inc $CLSK made it clear:
Bitcoin isn’t just about compute. It’s grid infrastructure and mining becomes the bridge to higher-value AI infrastructure 🧵
$CORZ @Core_Scientific just raised $3.3B riding the #AI infrastructure debt boom.
Most news coverage focused on the headline: another massive AI debt deal.
But buried in the filing is something far more revealing:
A detailed, site-by-site look at the data centers, construction progress, and cash flows supporting the bond.
Our latest issue breaks down the illustrative financials — and the infrastructure behind it 👇
$AA @Alcoa is close to offloading a shuttered smelter to @NYDIG, highlighting a bigger shift:
Closed aluminum plants—once victims of high power costs—are now being reborn as hubs for #Bitcoin mining and #AI.
Why?
• Existing grid connections
• Large power capacity
• Access to low-cost energy (like hydropower)
In a world where new power is hard to secure, these sites are effectively “plug-and-play” for compute.
Today’s issue of #MinerWeekly gets at a big part of the thesis behind EIF.
The hardest part of the AI infrastructure buildout is no longer raising capital.
It is turning #capital into energized sites, productive capacity, and real monetization.🧵👇

<5 yrs ago, a 44 MW digital mining site in NY was the center of a national firestorm.📢
Leaders like Sen. Elizabeth Warren and Gov. Kathy Hochul were sounding alarms about "existential threats" to the grid and ecosystems.🚨

One small detail I found intriguing but didn’t include in our story was how several creditors are located close to one another — crypto bros in Puerto Rico!
Who's caught up in the BlockFills Chapter 11 case? Some names Bitcoiners will know.
🔺Simple Mining for $3.7M
🔺BitFarms subsdiary Backbone Hosting for $4.2M
🔺Coinmint's co-founder's family office: $5.6M
"So far, we only have the declaration. It will take a few days before we get actual documents with why this happened, who was involved."
