I do think the marketing undermines the film's impact though.
Half of the people in my group are in relationships with partners that sometimes come along. We do Secret Santa at Christmas. When I think about the amount of time it required to actually build those friendships though, well, it's a bit mindboggling really.
This is relateable. When I moved to a new apartment 3-4 years ago I basically had no friends besides 1 or 2 from home. After ruminating on it for a while I decided to attempt to set up a board games group with fellow residents.

There's community board game groups on websites like Meetup,etc, but my experience was they were never about making friends, they seemed to me to be geared towards people who already had friends to bring along and play with.
