Zhang Jingyi ( #张婧仪 ) is one of the most prominent actresses of the post-95 generation in Chinese entertainment. Born on July 10, 1999, in Shaoyang, Hunan
she graduated from the Beijing Film Academy and signed with K.Artists, the talent agency co-founded by Chen Kun and Zhou Xun
What makes Zhang Jingyi stand out is her “naturalistic” acting style. Unlike many idol-drama actresses who rely heavily on exaggerated expressions, Zhang became known for understated emotional delivery, soft visuals, and grounded screen presence.
Chinese audiences often describe her vibe as:
👉“first love face” (初恋感)

shooting star is not just an ost, it’s an anthem, a wedding march, a lifetime soundtrack, and the definition of soulmates in music form. i love this song so much you have no idea.

No. 1
Yumi’s Men Connected Through the Universe (Feat. OST)
🌟 Goo Woong = Star
Doyoung OST — Like a Star
🌕 Babi = Moon
Jinyoung OST — Shining on Your Night
☄️ Soonrok = Shooting Star
Thama OST — Shooting Star
Directing Point
Only Soonrok, Yumi’s husband, is portrayed as “A meteor falling into Yumi’s Village.” Meanwhile, Woong and Babi remain in the sky as a star and the moon.
What makes this directing point so special is the symbolism behind each of Yumi’s love interests:
Goo Woong (Star)
He is portrayed like a star in the sky beautiful and shining brightly, but still far away above her.
Babi (Moon)
He is portrayed like the moon that stays beside the night, bringing comfort and warmth, yet still remaining in his own orbit in the sky.
Soonrok (Shooting Star)
Unlike Woong and Babi, who remain in the sky and simply become part of Yumi’s scenery in life, Soonrok is the only “star” that actually falls down directly into Yumi’s Village.
That’s why the symbolism feels so emotional, Woong and Babi stayed above Yumi’s world, but Soonrok entered it completely. He didn’t just shine from afar, he came into Yumi’s life, stayed beside her and became part of her everyday world

I also feel that one of the reasons why Yumi’s Cells is so loved is because the production team truly understood the “soul” of the original webtoon, instead of simply using the popularity of the title. Many adaptations fail because they are too focused on creating a completely new version that they forget what made readers fall in love with the original work in the first place.
In the case of Yumi’s Cells, viewers could genuinely feel the respect they had for the original story, from the detailed storytelling, the visualization of the emotion cells, the romantic tone, to the chemistry and characterizations that felt like they came straight out of the webtoon itself. Even many webtoon readers felt that their imagination had finally been “brought to life” in live action form, and that is something incredibly difficult to achieve in an adaptation.
I also understand the disappointment people feel when watching adaptations that change the story too much. Sometimes characters are completely altered, important conflicts are removed, or unnecessary drama is added just for sensationalism. As a result, the essence of the original story disappears and it ends up feeling like they are only “borrowing the famous title” of the webtoon to attract viewers. When in reality, what fans usually hope for is not major changes, but for the emotions and message of the original work to still be felt on screen.
That is why faithful yet creative adaptations like Yumi’s Cells are often considered by the media and knetz as one of the ideal examples of a webtoon adaptation. They successfully maintained the balance between staying loyal to the original source material while still adapting it naturally into a drama format without losing the story’s identity.
I also want to appreciate the team, especially PD Lee Sang Yeob, who was truly brilliant in the process of creating Yumi’s Cells. He paid close attention to every detail in the webtoon and carefully visualized them in the drama, which is why every scene in Yumi’s Cells feels like it came directly out of the webtoon itself. PD Lee also added many thoughtful details that made Yumi’s Cells feel far beyond an ordinary romcom drama.
If I were asked to recommend a drama for people to watch, then I would absolutely recommend Yumi’s Cells. Everything about this drama feels perfect, not only the story and acting, but also the directing and editing. One of the best dramas of all time for me.
