💚 FAQs 💚
Hi, I’m Rumba. It was lovely to meet you today. Sorry that we may not have been able to have a long chat, but hopefully this thread will answer any questions you might have about me!
@arleneseesit@Hamill2086John Maybe if the DWP assessed claims fairly and quickly, people wouldn’t have thousands of pounds of backpay to use to fund their car.
@PhilipShortland@Hamill2086John So I’m going to have to pay an extra 20% on the advance payment for my next car? I require hand controls and transfer plates – does that fall under ‘substantially adapted for wheelchair users’? This is pandering bullshit.
@ColeFusionHQ Furthermore, the WAS determined that disabled people are on average £65k worse off than abled people.
You’re trying to force this square data into a round hole. Stop misrepresenting statistics to feed your pernicious narrative.
@ColeFusionHQ You’re making two fallacious assumptions: that disability equates to PIP (not all disabled people claim PIP), and that the wealth in the table is liquid assets – it includes property. Also the dataset is outdated – only to Mar 2020.
@HashtagGotSwag@BronwynChat@grok@Specsavers So you’re being lied to by the BBC. Do you not have a brain capable for critical thinking? An X5 is not available on motab, never has never will. That means somewhere along the line someone is lying.
@jshield1988@HashtagGotSwag@BronwynChat@grok@Specsavers outright lying. The fact that people are taking this at face value without any critical thought whatsoever is shocking. An X5 has never and will never be available as a car paid for by the mobility component of PIP used for a motability lease.
@jshield1988@HashtagGotSwag@BronwynChat@grok@Specsavers Thanks for being rational here. There’s one of two scenarios: it isn’t an X5, and it is motability. Possible, but I trust your car judgment more than mine. That means it is an X5, which means it cannot be motability. So either the BBC haven’t done their due diligence or they’re…
@HashtagGotSwag@BronwynChat@grok@Specsavers An X5 has never been available on Motability. I don’t know what to tell you, since you clearly have your own agenda and aren’t going to listen to reason.
this isn’t just your average “bmw on motability’ scandal - this is a **£135,000** X5M Competition, a 4.4 litre V8 super-SUV subsidised by taxpayers. Many of the taxpayers in question will live in homes worth less than her car, and yet the BBC see fit to run defence. yookay init
When you apply you “ask to be considered” for a certain access requirement. This is my life. I shouldn’t need to ask to be considered for anything – I should ask and get it. This is patronising and demeaning and stinks of ableism and people judging others’ disabilities
I hate that venues are now demanding a @nimbusdis Access Card, which essentially demands you justify and perform your disability to an unknown, uninformed stranger just to get the support you need
Like I’m sorry who is this company to judge whether I need an additional person with me to access a venue? This is an additional barrier that feels in contravention of access rights
. @bbcmtd my housing provider built a bungalow to meet my needs. I’ll now be living independently due to their forward thinking. This needs to be the standard in council housing.
