ICYMI: A look at what comes next for PIBO and... Pelee Island.
As Mayor, I usually get to hear all kinds of development plans. Past and present Councils tout eco-tourism and sustainability, but what does that look like?
This is what it looks like 👏👏👏 @PeleeIslandBird
@globeandmail Terrific article by Globe and Mail science reporter Ivan Semeniuk and photographer Melissa Tait for this extraordinary feature on Pelee Island, bird migration, conservation, and the people who care deeply about protecting this remarkable place!
Some Hope: Siding going on at new @PeleeIslandBird centre on Pelee Island! Converted 1928 liquor store… Anti bird collision will be applied on windows in spring when it’s warm enough. Thanks to ALL donors! And Greenlight contractors! You’ve all been terrific!
Who knew I'd be involved in such adventures when I visited Pelee Island just 2 years ago. Please consider supporting the Pelee Island Bird Observatory on Giving Tuesday. Read more here! The Septic Tank Issue Solved!, by @MargaretAtwood https://t.co/KSEl0r9xsF
@CF_ontario I have recently experienced the unnecessary pressure to place my mom in a long term care home with little to no choices. Gratefully, she has settled well and still close to me in Toronto. However, the process was not transparent or collaborative. There must be a better way!
I am honoured to serve on the PIBO Board committed to research and education along the flyways between the Americas. Birds are essential to our ecosystems and our mental health through our enjoyment of nature. Please consider donating for #GivingTuesday
#GivingTuesday is less than 2 weeks away! We have some new campaigns that also make great gifts for the bird lover in your life ranging from under $25 to $250. The first is Build a Boardwalk for Bird Research.

@jm_mcgrath@jen_keesmaat Well … it’s obvious, we should make Olivia Chow Mayor based solely on this interference by our premier @fordnation in what is supposed to be an unbiased process. Crazy politics!
One model I use constantly is the "hierarchy of capabilities" from the book "Humanocracy: Creating organizations as amazing as the people inside them". As leaders we can expect people to follow the rules, be diligent in their work & to have expertise. But if we want people to take initiative, be creative & be willing to take risks, we have to create the conditions where they "want to" do these things. If leaders could support people to move up this pyramid, we could eliminate half the compliance load in a typical organisation. A summary from @MarcellaBremer: https://t.co/Ic8WS9fnvK
