Today’s pickup trucks are designed to be huge and aggressive to delight the wimps who buy them as vanity objects to intimidate and “own” the roads. It was only a matter of time before one was used in a mass murder (pickups have already killed thousands in “accidents”)
Making fun of dumbass pickup truck drivers and laughably bad infrastructure was fun for a while but it’s futile, means nothing. Worcester is progressing and that’s better than most places in this fucked country will ever get. I’ll take it and just shut up now.
I started this account after years of anger over the city’s neglect of pedestrians, a city choked by stroads, seeing children killed on our streets. But the city has made undeniable progress recently, I’m stunned to see permanent speed bumps, speed limit reduced to 30mph…
Streets seriously so how could we expect them to take a genocide seriously, even symbolically. Waking up to another 4 years of T*ump today reinforces for me that we live in a society ruled by people who want it just the way it is…
The thing where Worcester repaves a road in August but it takes four more months to paint lines, so drivers just do whatever, line up four abreast in a single lane or drive in oncoming traffic
Loving the new pave job at Green Hill Park! No new bike lanes, speed humps or sidewalks, just plush blacktop so drivers can finally blow past this speed limit sign at 30, 40 maybe higher! You want drivers to be able to speed through your premiere city park, that’s good
Your Worcester tax dollars going to build a parking lot for a private little league field courtesy of some psycho city councilor and an 18 term state senator who specializes in like giving MRAPs to small town police
Hey, @TweetWorcester, any chance we could get some PD tailing school buses for a bit? I just watched two lanes of Southbridge Street traffic blast straight past this stopped school bus.
Glad no kids were crossing.
Yes! This is another change like Mill St that exposes how serious Worcester’s driving sickness is. You can’t go the existing 30 limit without a Dodge Ram grill blocking your rear view
CAN you drive 25mph in Worcester? Hank tried it the past few weeks as an experiment and says that his slower driving has been received poorly (and angrily) by most of the other motorists in the city.
Should we move forward with a lowering of the statutory speed limit to 25?
“So I said to the architect, wanna save a few bucks? Ditch the brick for, I don’t know, baby blue corrugated aluminum? And shrink the size of that loading door.”
Omg, it's a 13 year old girl who's been seriously injured on Shrewsbury st. After a 13 year old girl was just killed on Belmont st.
This is just awful. I am *enraged* by the feet dragging of our council.
Just so everyone knows, some are going to performatively beat the drum for more enforcement which we do need, *but we can't have a cop at every corner all the time*.
There are proven evidence-based interventions that can be made like the 25mph limit, traffic calming, intersection daylighting. What we need is for our council to get the f*%& out of the way of our DTM and let them do it (and fund the efforts).
