"People need to receive empathy in hard times, it’s true, but they equally need to be given feedback in a caring way," says @razorfemme. #AskKai

Hey, did you hear that I'm teaching a class about Judaism and justice in our messed-up and messy world? Well, you did now! Want to come join? https://t.co/82l6z8j7Gs
The class will be $108 for six sessions, on Tuesday nights at 7pm ET on Zoom, starting on March 7th (though if the cost doesn't work for you, please don't let that be a barrier) https://t.co/RZgsICInKy
Hi all! One of our co-hosts, Jaz, will be leading an adult Jewish education class on justice through Hebrew College, and would love to see you there! Really looking forward to joyful text-based learning and meaning-making together https://t.co/RZgsICIVA6
@Maladroithe yes, absolutely!!!! you'd WONDERFUL. (also as someone who went through the "applying to rabbinical school process" pretty recently, I have comparative spreadsheets of schools should you want them, and am ALWAYS available to chat if I can be of any help)
I don't care who you are, what your opinions are about policing:
You should be outraged that the Mayor of NYC, Eric Adams, is demanding major cuts to the budget of NYC Public Libraries when *a single day of the NYPD budget could make up the difference.* https://t.co/RI4L5clvQk
Books allowed in Louisiana prisons:
❌ George Jackson's "Blood in My Eye"
❌ @prisonculture's "We Do This 'Til We Free Us"
✅ Hitler's "Mein Kampf"
✅ every book on @splcenter's racist lit. round-up

Talia is a great person, a good friend and a phenomenal educator. This is deeply disturbing, and worst of all, the type behavior one has come to expect. oy lanu l'yom hadin. is this the torah and this its reward?
this is a great moment to reflect on how if you're spending a lot of time feeling superior to YU/talking about how bad they are, there are definitely things you can be doing to make your communities better for queer people and you should think about that and do those things
Can confirm that I did recommend books from Ben Yehuda Press and they are purchasing at least one so far! They did say that they were "unable to obtain it from our regular library suppliers" so it would take a little longer, but they're still getting it!
The Boston Public Library system allows you to suggest up to 20 books a month, which librarians will then review. I suggested eight the other day, and they already accepted and said they would purchase seven of them. Some of them will show up on hold for me in a couple weeks!
Small PSA that you can suggest books to your local library! If there are books you want to read but can't/don't want to buy right now, and the library doesn't already have them, there's almost always a suggestion page where you can suggest books for the library to buy
Suggesting books to your local library is also a great way to support marginalized authors whether or not you can personally buy their book. This way, someone will still be buying it, and more people will read their work!
