I'm a simple person. I won't argue my personal decisions with Internet strangers. I can only marry a woman who can cook and cook well. If anyone thinks it's not necessary, fine. But they'll never eat in my house.
Someone recently told me I am self-centered and that I am enjoying life, not caring about other people around me.
I wanted to respond but chose not to. Instead, I wanted to answer, for myself, if that person was right. Even though I didn't agree.
After much thought, I realised something even more concerning.
Growing up, I faced so many battles alone. I did so many things myself and mostly got any help from strangers... or none at all. I got so used to figuring it out that I never really turned to anyone for help. If I didn't figure it out, I just moved on and accepted it as fate.
Did that only make me stronger? Or did it make it more difficult to let people into my life? Then, there were times that I did reach out for help. One is still being used against me to this day. Others didn't even bother responding. Some genuinely had bigger problems and others pretended to. But was I entitled to their help? I always wondered. So, I never held a grudge. If they could or wanted to help, they would. If they didn't help, I had to figure it out regardless.
And I did... by the grace of God and through hard work. I did. I figured so much out that it became my second nature. I don't complain. I don't think about it. I just figured it out.
Deep inside, I have felt alone and recently, I said it out loud. "Who do I call?". My wife heard me.
Now, this was a genuine feeling. Who do I call? When everyone comes to me for support... for help. When I need help, who do I call? I have helped and supported so many. I have been grateful for when there has been excess provision, but there were times I gave all I had (and i am not just talking about money). Everything to ensure people didn't suffer. Found out some lied. Found out some even had more than me. But I have never stopped helping. But when it's my turn to ask for help, WHO DO I CALL?
Doing things myself has made it hard for me to picture going anywhere for help. Other than figuring it out. I don't even know how to ask.
So, why does someone else feel entitled to my help? Do I need to explain myself to this person?
After spending so much time pondering on this, I realised.
I owe no one an explanation and never responded to that person. I pray God continues to give me the ability to help as many as I can and the wisdom to know what to give my energy and thoughts to.
After I asked the question out loud, my wife said... "You have me... you will always have me!"
She was right. I have been so caught up in my little world that I didn't acknowledge people like her who have held me down. People like @folasanwo, whom I would call for help, and he wouldn't even ask why or what for but would just show up. People like @femitaylor who goes out of his way to be a support system to me. People like Misan Agbeyegbe, who the shame of not being there for him when he needed me as a friend and brother, made me stay silent instead of being honest with him.
So caught up in my righteousness that I've missed moments to just be human. So this is my appreciation of people who have showed up for me in the world where I can hardly remember getting help. I am grateful and I am sorry!
I love you guys! Thank you 🙏🏾
I honestly love people with personal taste. Naturally cool, don’t try hard. Have a deep appreciation for what they like or no concept behind it at all other than a free mind. Those are my type of people!
@Sekii_smith@Mea_Ayodeji Hello @Sekii_smith,
Did you later get Wifiber? if yes, how has it been so far?
I'm trying to decide whether to get it too or not
@gaialect Picked up The Covert Passive Aggressive Narcissist by Debbie Mirza on a whim. My narc didn’t fit any of the classic signs of narcissism but was covertly an emotional terrorist! It affirmed so many of my struggles and helped me turn the chapter.
Mourinho is the only coach I know that has his own personal fans and followings our of true love. Even if he coaches Qarabag, we will all turn Qarabag fans.
A world war is coming.
A war that will be fought primarily using the levers of information and communication.
Sub-Saharan Africa is the only civilisation on the planet that doesn't seem to get it yet.
I am worried for us.
Treat your woman right. FULL STOP
"Another man will" is not a threat. She should go and meet him.
Other women are treating me right. Have I gone to meet them?
Lesson from Surah Yusuf:
The closest of people can deceive you.
Broken hearts can be restored through love.
Ease come after hardships.
Being sad doesn't equal being ungrateful.
Those who decide to trust Allah's plan will win.
People with patience have a beautiful ending.
