@SchallerDomenic @lufthansa ziemlich hohe Erwartungen an die schlechteste App eines Großkonzerns. Vodafone hat es auch mal geschafft, etwas derart Schlechtes und Nutzloses zu entwickeln.

Today, Nolla Health became the first organization in the U.S. (and possibly the world) to receive regulatory approval for an AI to issue initial prescriptions.

This makes Nolla the first ever actual end-to-end AI doctor.

Introducing Griffin, the first model to pass the video Turing test.

48% of people who talked to it live thought it was a real human. Previous systems have had a pass rate <3%. It is #1 on NVIDIA's benchmark for full-duplex AI video.

Its the first Human Interaction Model (HIM).

10/10 These studies make cocoa an interesting source of molecules to investigate.

They do not establish an everyday chocolate bar as a treatment.

The future may involve carefully dosed formulations. For now, enjoy chocolate as food, not as a longevity prescription.

[Mihai Salahoru @WorkerMichael]

1/10 Chocolate research gets surprisingly strange.

A cocoa compound can alter crystal growth. Cocoa flavanols have been tested inside human muscle. And blood theobromine levels correlate with certain ageing markers.

3 obscure findings—and what they could mean. 🧵

[Mihai Salahoru @WorkerMichael]

9/10 The decisive tests:

Stones: fewer recurrences.
PAD: lasting improvements in walking and daily life.
Ageing: better health and function, alongside biomarker changes.

The PAD trial has the clearest functional signal here. The ageing application is the most speculative.

[Mihai Salahoru @WorkerMichael]

8/10 What could come next? My forecast:

• Purified compounds for uric-acid stone research.
• Standardized cocoa flavanols tested alongside PAD rehabilitation.
• Controlled theobromine trials investigating ageing markers.

All need stronger clinical evidence.

[Mihai Salahoru @WorkerMichael]

7/10 A subtle detail: the “telomere” finding used a DNA-methylation estimate of telomere length.

Researchers did not demonstrate actual telomere lengthening.

Theobromine could also be marking exposure to other cocoa compounds. Association leaves causality unresolved.

[Mihai Salahoru @WorkerMichael]

6/10 The ageing signal

A 2025 study of 1,669 people across UK and German cohorts linked higher blood theobromine to favourable DNA-methylation ageing markers.

It was observational. It did not show that chocolate slows ageing.

[Mihai Salahoru @WorkerMichael]

5/10 Researchers also took muscle biopsies.

They found higher mitochondrial enzyme activity. A follow-up in 16 people supported a role for Nrf2, which regulates cellular antioxidant defences.

A possible mechanism, not proof of cause.

https://t.co/wQZcpsfZVG

[Mihai Salahoru @WorkerMichael]

4/10 The muscle effect

In a 6-month trial of 44 people with peripheral artery disease, the cocoa group improved 6-minute walking distance 42.6 m more than placebo, tested 2.5 h after a dose.

The 24 h difference was not significant.

[Mihai Salahoru @WorkerMichael]

3/10 The catch: fewer crystals in a lab does not prove fewer kidney stones.

A trial in 47 patients found no significant benefit from adding theobromine to citrate.

Dark chocolate also raised urinary oxalate in the earlier study.

https://t.co/wNtckG6FKx

[Mihai Salahoru @WorkerMichael]

2/10 The crystal effect

Theobromine, a cocoa compound, inhibited uric-acid crystal growth in the lab.

In 20 volunteers, urine collected after dark chocolate or cocoa powder formed fewer crystals under lab challenge conditions.

@lionelrudaz The problem is that heavy-metal content can change with bean origin and harvest, so 2 samples of the same product aren’t necessarily identical.

Claude has discovered a previously unknown enzyme system hidden in the DNA of bacteriophages. Beside the enzyme’s gene sits a long array of repeating DNA—a structure that looks somewhat similar to CRISPR.

We don’t yet understand what this system does, but only a handful of known systems share its features, and all of them are able to cut, copy, and paste DNA. Historically, the discovery of such programmable systems has helped revolutionize medicine. CRISPR, for instance, is now the foundation of genetic medicines. But it will take much more work to learn what this system does, and whether it can be put to similar use.

Let’s build the United States of Europe! 🇪🇺

In Reims, I came to wake up this European dream again.

The grammar of geopolitics has changed. We now live in a world of continent-powers. Russia is attacking our security, China our economy, and the United States is attacking our values. And alongside these rivals stands a threat with neither capital nor flag: climate change.

Facing them, Europe is fragmented. Splintered. Divided. It is as if we imposed a 45% tariff on our own goods and 110% on our own services. We tax ourselves far more than the United States has ever threatened to.

And on the decisions that matter most, unanimity allows a single government to hold all the others back. Look at Ukraine: Europe's support cannot depend on whether Viktor Orbán loses an election. That is European vetocracy.

Yes, the European Union has achieved outstanding accomplishments.

We love Europe. And it is precisely because we love it, because we defend it, that we can look at it honestly: today's European Union has reached its limits.

And so, there are only two possible choices: the fall of the EU, becoming the 51st American state or the 24th Chinese province; or a new dream, a dream within reach: the United States of Europe.

Let’s build the United States of Europe.

What I am proposing is not the creation of a single country. It is merging our economies and our environmental futures into one. It is economic, technological, and environmental federalism among the countries that choose to join, a core group, to begin with.

With the European Union, we created a single market. With the euro, we created a single currency. What I am proposing to you is a single economy.

Together, with the United States of Europe, we will set out to conquer the economic, technological and ecological frontiers on which the prosperity of the 21st century will be built.

We will set out to conquer artificial intelligence, space, decarbonised energy and tomorrow's defence. We will invent the first vaccine against cancer.

For the French, for the Europeans, that means wages that finally catch up with American wages, and energy prices that are low and stable. And it means our freedom is no longer up for negotiation.

Because power is not an abstraction. Power is prosperity.

As President, my first mission will be to bring together a core group of European countries and convince them that the United States of Europe is the only way forward. The United States of Europe can be built in a matter of years.

This Europe will be democratic. No more summits behind closed doors. We will need someone actually in charge, a president directly elected by voters across Europe, in the first truly pan-European election. A president with real power to act in every area we have decided to share.

And let us be clear: our armed forces, our diplomacy, our courts will remain national. Our nuclear deterrent will remain French. France will remain France, with its own voice, its own history and its own freedom.

I am running in this election to put forward the project of a generation, of a century. A project no other candidate will dare to propose.

Because that is the question: would we rather become the 51st American state or the 24th Chinese province? Or do we want to be the driving force of the United States of Europe?

Now it is our turn to decide.

The time for fear is over.

"A day will come," said Victor Hugo.

For the United States of Europe, that day is here. Let's build it!
