I raised the funds for this match and organised it. Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher opened it and former Prime Minister Lord Callaghan declared the London half closed. @PatrickHeren @MemoryDom@Carl_Portman@jeales1
Happy 30th Birthday to Le Quang Liem (World #31)! In June 2019, he won the Asian Championship with 7/9 ahead of Firouzja, Vidit... A few weeks later, he won the Summer Chess Classic in St. Louis with 6/10 ahead of Xiong, Howell, Shankland, Jones.📷Crystal Fuller via @STLChessClub
My friend Erdogan just sent me this very nice position. Black to move and win in just 517 moves! 😎 Who can provide the solution? And yes, you can cheat and use computer assistance 🤣 @FIDE_chess@WOMChess@EuropeEchecs@ECUonline
In my chess career, I've often heard that my brain is too small, I only win because my opponent was sick, I am too ugly, I have no talent, I am too stupid, etc. I'm very thankful for all these nice people for motivating me every single day! 😃 @FIDE_chess@WOMChess@NetflixTheQG

These lists are always tricky. Some players are often underestimated, like Lasker, Karpov and Anand. Fischer didn’t play enough: with only one world championship I would not have him on my top 5. But in general I agree with the ranking that Jan and PHN came up with. Good job 👌
Today we look at a didactic Proof Game by the iconic Finnish composer and Grandmaster Unto Heinonen. The given position is after both sides made 12 moves each, can you deduce the precise game score? 𝘏𝘪𝘯𝘵 𝘧𝘰𝘭𝘭𝘰𝘸𝘴 𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘯𝘦𝘹𝘵 𝘵𝘸𝘦𝘦𝘵! 🙂
