Every IF That Stands Between the Lakers and True Contention - [A Thread]
Every season comes down to “ifs.” For the Lakers, it’s about Luka, LeBron… and most importantly everyone in between.
Here’s what has to go right for each player ranked by impact on accomplishing the IF (not a talent ranking) for LA to contend in 2025-26. 🧵👇#LakeShow
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander from the postgame podium tonight on the Thunder’s decision-filled offseason to come: "I will give zero input. I will let Sam Presti, the greatest GM ever, do his job."
@TheDunkCentral@WindhorstESPN So in this “free agency”what do the other teams out there need to explain when they only have the mid level or a vet min?
This is not the negotiation we’ve typically seen in previous years like people think it is.
2️⃣ THE SWING
San Antonio had every reason to crack:
• no De’Aaron Fox
• Castle had 11 turnovers
• OKC kept forcing chaos
• SGA tied it late in regulation
• Caruso gave OKC 31 off the bench
And the Spurs STILL stole Game 1.
That’s not normal.
@TrevorLane If the Pistons decide not to give him a max, can Luka help elevate his game like he’s done with a number of bigs or is this a waste of money?
And the lense is even with his struggles would he be a bigger lift than Ayton/Hayes gave in the C spot at that “discounted” price point.
@mcten I dislike OKC so much… but they are absolutely relentless. Ajay Mitchell blossomed to another level this series. Mad respect for that dude he’s a hooper.
We knew this season was coming to an end soon, but it still ended so suddenly. This season was a roller coaster ride but it’s been the most engaging in years. Some really high highs (that March run 🔥) with some really low lows (mid season). It just really sucks we couldn’t see the team in full form for the playoffs especially when your missing player is LUKA. No idea what the future holds but until then it’s…
Lakers 4 Lyfe 💜💛
Appreciate everyone who has rocked with me this season!
