Peter Atkins is an atheist and a scientist who wants to explain how the universe could come from absolutely nothing. But listen closely to what happens when he tries. “Absolutely nothing” somehow “rolled over into being something.” But if it truly was nothing, how could it have properties, behavior, or the ability to do anything at all?

Then comes the even stranger claim: when we look at the physical universe around us, we’re supposedly “deluded by appearances.” But if the universe is real enough for us to observe, measure, and investigate, why dismiss its existence as mere appearance?

Fancy terminology doesn’t solve the problem. If we’re talking about absolute nothing, then we’re talking about the complete absence of anything — no space, no time, no matter, no properties, and no causal power. So how could nothing possibly produce something?

The Big Bang Theory points to a universe with a beginning, but what does it mean to say that the universe came from “nothing”? Dr. Hugh Ross examines Lawrence Krauss’ argument and explains why the “nothing” in his explanation is actually something. If the universe came from something, then the question remains: where did that something come from?

Peter Atkins loves to demand evidence from Christians — and then rejects everything they offer. But when he's asked what evidence could ever change his mind, he can't name a single thing: the stars spelling out a message from God he'd write off as madness, and even meeting Saint Peter in heaven he'd dismiss as a dream. So if no possible evidence would ever count, what is the point of demanding evidence at all — and who is really the one running on blind faith?

Would someone like Hitler go to heaven if he repented on his deathbed? Understanding this issue requires appreciating the fact that the severity of a wrong is determined not just by the act committed but also by who, or what, the act was done to. God is of infinite worth, therefore our sins against Him have infinite consequences.

No one can “force” or “make” themselves believe in Jesus. However, people can engage in actions that will make it much easier for them to believe. Furthermore, they can examine their hearts to see whether their desire not to believe is actually stronger than their desire to believe.

Is Christianity responsible for colonialism and other immoral actions? Many times things are done by people, claiming to be Christian, that aren’t based in the Bible or the teachings of Jesus. This point is often missed by critics. But there’s also another thing to note here. Many of the same people who criticize Christianity for being the cause of bad things will excuse acts of terrorism done by Muslims and claim that they have nothing to do with Islam. So in other words, Christianity is always guilty and Islam always seems to be innocent.

Christians should not “intervene” in other people’s lives in that they should not try to coerce other people to believe. However, in as much as Christians have the opportunity to communicate with others, they should not hesitate to try and persuade them to turn from rebellion against God, to love for God.

Can you prove God’s existence? A lot depends on how one understands the word “prove.” The way many people understand it means that we can’t “prove” God exists. However, we can show that God’s existence is highly probable.

Christianity is not arrogant, although individual Christians might be. Science got started because Christian scientists took the time to investigate the secondary causes through which God acts in the world. The key thing to remember is that Christianity and science are in different categories, and they answer different sorts of questions.
