In this video, provided to me by a relative on site, you can see the destruction at Saint Porphyrius Orthodox Church in Gaza. The ancient sanctuary remains standing, but the church annex, which includes offices and meeting spaces for the Christian community, collapsed from an Israeli airstrike, killing multiple members of three connected Orthodox Christian families, who are my relatives. They are my dad’s first cousins and their spouses, children, and in-laws. May their memories be eternal.

Much of what has happened in Lahaina is not sitting right with me—
•The banks were trying to buy up scorched land while people were still looking for lost love ones.
•The missing kids.
•The ports closed, roads closed, refusal to allow in supplies to all but one small dock
•The relative silence and distance by the government— local, state, and federal.
•$700 hush money
•roughly 6000 of the 12000 people living in Lahaina have been displaced.
•2100 acres of the 9 miles (about 6000 acres or so) burned.
•none of the famous people there were affected. Including Oprah who owns 870 of those 6000 acres.

Multimillionaires and billionaires like Oprah and The Rock pledged to donate money they raise from people like me and you, when they could more efficiently just cut a check and not even notice. Why isn’t this closer to their hearts?

No person with power or influence seems genuinely concerned that 1/3 of this wealthy, historic town, including 1200 buildings, burned down and there seems to be no urgency to help, but there is urgency to blame the climate and demand more money to fix the weather. I don’t know. It all just feels nefarious to me.

What do you think is going on? Is this Incompetence or malice?
