@ccombs494 Expect a lot of this between now and Indy. Opposition will pull out all the stops.
If they truly thought it was a distraction, then they would vote yes so we can move on.
There is no good-faith reason to vote against it.
@rhett_burns@Byzness At one point, a brother went to one of the mics and made a motion (?) that we shorten the allotted time for music, sermon, and entity reports so we can have more debate time.
The entire row in front of me was scoffing and mocking the guy for “not wanting to worship Jesus.”
@willowwrites@nathancreitz Yes - I can say a woman is disqualified simply because she’s female. 1 Timothy 2:12.
I also agree with the second half of your post. Any of those could be disqualifying.
Again I ask, what specific criteria is the SBC at large ignoring? That was the initial claim.
@willowwrites@nathancreitz Seems to be a misunderstanding.
I know very well what and where the criteria is. My question is which specific part of that criteria is the SBC ignoring in their pastors?
You can’t just say a pastor is disqualified. You have to point to something specific (with evidence)
@IvanDOesnot I don’t understand what point you’re trying to make. I said that we need to clearly articulate biblical criteria if we are going to disqualify a pastor. What exactly is your issue with that?
@EvangelicalDW That’s true, but I still think him being the primary advocate for it helped to push it over the edge. Not to mention all of the PR he put out about it leading up to the meeting.
