The hmmm in the @AfricaWritesUK auditorium after @kwamedawes points out that Toni Morrison wrote that African writers showed her that she could write without relying on the white gaze.

The market in Ghana is different 🤣
This why we say yoomo bɛ Ga!

(FR my pops used to verbally marry me off to market women every week when we went shopping, to get discounts 🤣🤣 - I've always been worth at least 11.5% off! I know my worth )

[Create-Narrate @WritingGHANA]

That Twitter Blue logo is clearly a rush job!! It's just an Elon-gated B 🤣🤣🤣

[Ayikwei Dilla / Nii Ayikwei Parkes @BlueBirdTail]

Gosh, I love teaching! But, it's also why I need to protect myself from teaching so I don't end up doing so much teaching that I lose myself 😂😂😂

Remembering the good times...

[Kuukuwa Manful @Kuukuwa_]

As usual, I’m disappointed but not surprised.

Can someone please clearly outline what happened? And if it’s shareable, please let us know the reasons the GLC have given for refusing to call Ama to the bar even though she has met all requirements.

[SexLivesOfAfricanWomen @SexLivesAfrica]

Today in #TweetsThatBringUsJoy, @bigchiefenkay shares why she thinks The Sex Lives Of African Women by @nas009 is a vital read to the African experience.

I don’t think this a picture of me

[Ayikwei Dilla / Nii Ayikwei Parkes @BlueBirdTail]

The British establishment are masters at gaslighting victims of their atrocities by spotlighting 'perceived'* present positives.

e.g.

WOMEN: you randomly burned us at stake
ESTABLISHMENT: we GAVE you universal suffrage**

__
* guess who 'perceives'
** spoiler: they didn't

[Peepal Tree Press @peepaltreepress]

We are so pleased to see @moniqueroffey's #TheMermaidOfBlackConch and @BlueBirdTail's #TheGeez have both made the @RathbonesFolio Prize longlist. Find both books on our website: https://t.co/rl2cTTLsIT #RathbonesFolioPrize #WritersPrize

[NAACP @NAACP]

They've killed us for less!

[Create-Narrate @WritingGHANA]

We write with a guy called @kobbyagraham sometimes... He's a brilliant new Morland Scholar!!!

[Miles Morland @MilesMorland]

Four brilliant new Morland African Writing Scholars for 2020. What a talented crew. You will make us proud. https://t.co/OShH7kJdmP

“Poems have their own fates, like children. You have only to give birth to them.” —Andrei Voznesensky https://t.co/wjnvmVAHzf

[Ayikwei Dilla / Nii Ayikwei Parkes @BlueBirdTail]

There is this narrative (that I'm already hearing since #Biden's win) of needing to move to the 'centre' in order to reunite a fractured nation. I completely reject it. It's a nonsense that just leads to a more and more conservative, patriarchal and rightwing political space.

[Kuukuwa Manful @Kuukuwa_]

This is really upsetting. All Akuapem Poloo has been trying to do is to make a good life for herself and her child in spite of everything she has been through.

She was groomed from the age of 15. She doesn't tell it that way, but that is how she met her first "sugar daddy"
