@OGranRevol97710 It's not been very popular. The group of those in favour is exceeding small these days, the majority was pretty slim in the first place.
Recent polling shows a second referendum would have a very different result.
@Frid45 As much as I respect the EU and completely disagree with Brexit.
I would not agree with this statement completely.
Recent reports show significant interest from the Carney government in also stegthening it's ties with the UK. Reports even suggest him warming to canzuk ideas.
@bourassa3232@Frid45@HelbigJoachim Interestingly canzuk support is high in Quebec according to polls. But better independent polling is definitely needed.
@HoyasFan07 They were there due to a request from the republic of Ireland to provide security for an EU meeting, as can be seen in the community notes 🙄.
@OLORlN@emperorthesteve If taxation laws were changed and representation given in parliament, the war of independence would not have happened then or at all.
@OLORlN@emperorthesteve Actually yes, that's pretty spot on. They were a mix of European decent but within the 13 colonies most considered themselves Englishmen or at least British subjects.
They felt they were being denied there rights and freedoms as British subjects.
@OLORlN@emperorthesteve The British settlers were the "colonisers" you speak of. Only distinguishing themselves after independence.
Many who thought against the crown did so to defend thier rights as Englishmen.
@Frid45 I agree, but the Anglosphere is more than just the USA. Our closest partners other than Europe are naturally Canada, Australia and New Zealand.
If we could all work together that would be great, since the recovery period from Trumps mess could be very long indeed.
