The Arcane Texas Fact of the Day: If you go to the White Rock Cemetery Garden of Memories in North Dallas you will find the grave marker of Henry and Mary Jane Keller, shown here. Henry was one of the major African American landowners in the early days of Dallas County. He was an emancipated former slave who had been born in Tennessee in 1817. Henry married Mary Jane Reed, who grew up on the same plantation. After emancipation, they migrated to Collin County (just north of Dallas), where they lived in a house with a dirt floor and worked the land for several years before saving enough money to purchase their own farm.
The Kellers then settled in Addison (far North Dallas), where they continued to farm and eventually acquired several parcels of land in the upper White Rock area. A spring on the Keller property supplied water for the entire region, thus giving rise to Keller Springs road, a major artery in North Dallas that was named in honor of Henry Keller.
Henry and Mary Jane continued to farm and raise their ten children, eventually owning 640 acres of land. A devout Christian, Mr. Keller was one of the founders of Christian Chapel CME church, which is now located on Montforth Drive and Spring Valley Road. Mary Jane died in 1898. Henry lived for 13 more years, dying in 1911 at the at of 94.

America’s public lands are places that offer quiet, healing, and connection. Whether it’s a sunrise over the Appalachian Mountains or the quiet of a remote desert canyon, these moments remind us of what service protects.
To all who have served, thank you. May these lands continue to offer peace in return.
As a small token of our gratitude, Military Passes provides U.S. service members, veterans, and Gold Star Families with free access to more than 2,000 federal recreation sites, including national parks and wildlife refuges. Interior is proud to offer these passes to demonstrate our immense gratitude for those who currently serve and who have served our country.

We live in the wealthiest country in the world. There’s no reason 2 in 5 adults should be burdened with medical debt.
Every American deserves health care that is affordable, accessible, and universal.
Our government shot & killed an American citizen during a stop last year. We’re only finding out about it now. Where’s the outrage @JohnCornyn & @SenTedCruz ? This was your constituent. https://t.co/gPl6jeyhrS
Lost in the news about Trump’s illegal tariffs is something also quite important: they didn’t work.
Trump promised tariffs would shrink the trade deficit. Instead, the U.S. trade deficit hit $901 billion in 2025, one of the largest ever.
Americans paid higher prices, business faced huge uncertainty, and the core problem wasn’t even addressed.
One can only conclude that “Liberation Day” was a total con from the start.

Republicans have controlled Texas for nearly 30 years.
If the grid fails… that’s their record.
If property taxes keep rising… that’s their record.
If schools are struggling… that’s their record.
If healthcare is out of reach… that’s their record.
And after three decades, their pitch is still:
“Give us power so we can fix it.”
They don’t need more power.
They’ve had it.
If it’s broken, they own it.
The FAA has abruptly lifted its unprecedented ten day closure of El Paso airspace. Previously, no advanced notice was given and no justifiable explanation had been provided. This rash decision will erode trust in public safety.
The President should immediately give Congress and the American people a rational explanation for such an extreme and unprecedented move.
This week, we remember the six million Jewish lives lost in the Holocaust and all who endured unimaginable suffering.
It reminds us that hate, when left unchecked, spreads and leads to mass destruction—and that when people unite, they have the power to stop it.
Never forget🕯️
