Here's a weird fact: If you're driving on a country road and you notice they don't form a perfect grid, so that you will have to take a little dogleg curve to stay on the same road, those are there to compensate for the curvature of the earth. You can't lay a grid over a globe

The northernmost undisputed point of land on Earth is Kaffeklubben Island in Greenland. It means Coffee Club Island. Despite its extreme environment, grasses, lichens, and even flowering plants like purple saxifrage grow there.

Chicago has about 2.75 million residents, whereas the next 9 biggest cities have between only 85,000-180,000.
