Although, some areas will certainly welcome a cooler than average night tonight with some areas further north potentially seeing upper 50s!
But, overall, a mix of 60s into the mid 70s can be expected tonight into tomorrow morning.

But, it doesn’t feel like fall just yet… Highs for today will be averaging the Upper 80s and Lower 90s across our region. Stay cool and hydrated! Localized thunderstorms may cool off some areas.

Hurricane Katrina left 14 dead in Florida & 11 counties in the state had to declare federal disaster areas. Rainfall reached 16in in Perrine. The eye moved over the NHC office which recorded a gust of 87mph. Another gust of 97mph was reported in Homestead Airport. #FLwx
On this Day in 2005, Hurricane Katrina struck Keating Beach, FL as a Mid-end C1. The damages in FL reached $2B & 1M homes were w/o electricity.

Traffic is heavy at I-20 & MS-35 as folks are trying to get off as I-20 & MS-481 is closed Southwest of Forest, MS due to flooding.

On This Day, 30 Years Ago, Hurricane Andrew was on it’s approach to South Florida where it would make landfall just south of Miami, FL at around 5am, Aug 24.
These are probably one of the most memorable images taken of this devastating feat of nature.

Widespread Light-Moderate Rain is overspreading the Lower MS River Delta region this morning.
Currently, flood prone areas could flood and some flash flooding may ensue later. Be cautious when out and about!

Ah… summer.
Showers and thunderstorms are scattered across the southeast.
Some could be strong to severe. Main threats are gusty winds, flash flooding, and frequent lightning.
Well... that escalated quickly!
NOAA's Hurricane Hunters are en route to investigate INVEST 99L... located over the Bay of Campeche.
The NHC has upped the chance of development in the next 48 hours to 70%.
If 99L becomes a tropical storm, it will be named "Danielle".

An isolated tornado threat is present today across parts of Georgia & South Carolina, particularly near the coast.
Slow moving multi/supercells should exist through the afternoon.
An isolated spin-up may not be ruled out further north into NC.

Hurricane Charley is officially the 4th strongest landfall in FL on record with sustained winds of 150mph upon landfall. A very dangerous storm, that destroyed many homes & other properties. The impacts to the Carolinas were also major as well.
On This Day: Hurricane Charley ‘04 made landfall in Cayo Costa FL. Major damage was in a narrow but long tracked corridor. From gas stations to homes, they were ripped to shreds. A gust up to 172mph was recorded in Port Charlotte. 35 were killed.

You can make out the dominant eye dying off as Camille underwent an eyewall replacement cycle. Then after that, the secondary eyewall became the dominant. This proved to be catastrophic in the events in the MS Gulf Coast w/ an expanded wind field & reintensification.
Hurricane Camille, one of the strongest tropical cyclones to hit the Gulf coast region. Estimated winds were at 175mph at landfall. Camille had the most tremendous storm surge of 24ft.
