my mom once told me “accountability will always feel like an attack when you are not ready to acknowledge how your behavior harms others” and that shit is real.
Say Her Name: Zandile Tshuma. An accomplished C Suite leader ! Great mother & sister, a daughter. Self respecting woman!
Some stories stay with you long after you’ve read them. As someone who works every day with survivors of domestic violence, every femicide impacts me. But this one has affected me differently.
As a mother, I cannot begin to comprehend the horror of a man taking not only the life of his partner, Zandile Tshuma, but also the lives of his own children. It has left me asking difficult questions that have no simple answers.
Why are the levels of violence in my community so high?
I find myself reflecting on Zimbabwe’s history. We are one of the few African nations that endured a prolonged liberation war. I wonder how generations of unhealed trauma continue to shape our families, our leadership, and our communities today. I think about migration, displacement, economic hardship, isolation, and the chronic stress so many immigrant families carry every single day.
I also reflect on my own journey.
As a survivor, I still live in a Safe at Home location because I continue to fear for my life. Violence is not something I advocate against from a distance it is something I continue to navigate personally.
This weekend alone, I helped three women flee abusive situations two in Minnesota and one in London. Different countries. Different circumstances. The same patterns.
One of the greatest challenges we continue to face is the lack of safe shelter for survivors.
In Minnesota, we had to arrange transportation for one woman to travel all the way to Duluth because there was no closer shelter available. That kind of displacement uproots children from their schools, their communities, and every source of stability they know. Too often, survivors remain with their abusers because they have nowhere safe to go. Sometimes, that delay costs them their lives.
This week, I am acknowledging that I am not okay.
I am taking intentional steps to care for my own mental wellness because those of us who carry these stories every day also need space to grieve, heal, and process.
The tragedy of Zandile Tshuma and her children must not become another headline we scroll past. It should compel us to ask what more we can do to invest in prevention, culturally responsive services, trauma informed care, safe housing, accountability, and healing.
We owe that to every survivor still waiting for a safe place to go.
Say her name: Zandile Tshuma. As the Media fixates of saying the Name of this murderer.
May her memory and the memories of her children move us beyond outrage and toward action.
It's so selfish to enter someone's life, see that they're a loving, cheerful, and good person, and decide to ruin their peace because you haven't dealt with your own issues. Leave people alone if you have no intention of showing up with sincerity.
all relationships can survive mistakes, but they cannot survive patterns. Repeated behavior isn't a mistake, it's a decision, apologies lose meaning when the actions never change
People don’t realize that you can actually push someone so far that they no longer want anything to do with you anymore. This applies to friendships, relationships, or even family. Sometimes, people assume that because you love them, whether as a friend, partner, or family member you will continue to tolerate anything, disrespect, neglect, hurtful actions , lack of effort, or emotional stress.
Everyone has limits, and there is only so much one person can take before they choose peace over connection.
Even the most patient, kind-hearted person can reach their breaking point. When someone continuously feels unappreciated, misunderstood, or mistreated, they can reach a place where they emotionally disconnect. And once someone emotionally disconnects, it is very hard to repair that relationship.
@kingbee2312@AfricanOutkast@Makomborerol You can tell who doesnt travel with kids/have kids from the replies!! It is pointless to argue with them. I too have travelled with my child to many countries and NEVER had issues! Birth certificate and consent/affidavit signed by non travelling parent = no issues.
@kingbee2312@Makomborerol Exactly!!!!! I travel with my child all the time! I never had issues! Always carry their birth certificate and consent letter from the parent that isnt travelling. They even ask for the birth certificate when both parents are there with the child! Carry the necessarry documents!
🚨WORD ON THE STREET: Even in death, they hate this man. With his biopic out titled Michael, the mainstream media went all in on trashing it. But the people didn't care, they went en-mass to watch their long gone icon
The biopic had a very big opening weekend, racking over 200 million worldwide. At this point it has already made the money it cost to produce, meaning the money that comes later will cover the marketing and profit
And you know very well that it will make serious money, that's how enduring Michael Jackson's star power is, even in death, he still sells out theatres
This is a man who defined the word superstar, before internet was mainstream, he was known worldwide. Even in remote villages in Africa, they knew his name. Something that the so called modern stars have failed to replicate
To every Michael Jackson fan, go and watch the biopic, it's the greatest thing you can do as his fan and it's also a big FVCK YOU to all the evil people who persecuted this man
Michael Jackson forever.
@PebblesNeo ...then the videographer asked for my number! Hayi isibindi! He took videos and pictures of me crying and in pain, and it made him see a potential girlfriend 🚮
@PebblesNeo There was one at my moms funeral and 13 years later I refuse to watch the video or look at pictures. I do not want to relive those moments. But I know some that could'nt make it to the funeral, that watched the footage. Personally I don't get it, but we are different.
@Ndaba_Luh@DarkeyThema It is a hit or miss....i think it all goes down to luck. ngoba you can live with a person kubemnandi, you think you know each other, you get married and then you see the other side you never knew! People can show you their best side for as long as possible.
