Today's UG researcher is @rockycharlottie! Charlotte is a senior in @WVUGeology. Her research has focused on the reversal of the Frasier River in British Columbia. Charlotte's project has been primarily GIS based with a goal of identifying and evaluating past river terraces.
Today's UG researcher is @anna_himelstein! Anna is a junior in @WVUGeology looking at rheomorphic textures in ignimbrites. Anna photographs hand samples and then traces the rotated clasts in inkscape. Her goal is to find the degree of rotation!
@emma_krolczyk@TheJR This was her mega pumice drop which happened ~3 weeks ago. As you can see, there is an exceptionally stubborn piece of pumice floating at the surface. Emma put in many hours in the lab sieving and describing her samples before dropping them all. Gneiss job, Emma!
Today the spotlight is on our UG researcher @emma_krolczyk, AKA: The Pumice Queen ๐. Emma has been recreating submarine volcanic eruptions in the lab by dropping pumice into homemade graduated cylinders to assess the validity of @TheJR's half piston coring method.
@brennagcole Brenna was also just awarded the 'Outstanding Senior' award in @WVUGeology as a junior. Her hard work and attention to detail are unparalleled. You rock, Brenna!
