“Every great dream begins with a dreamer." Never underestimate how far love & passion can take you. What a return for Gorilla Position in 2024. Huge laughs, amazing shows, fantastic Superstar guests & most importantly, truly wonderful people. This is just the beginning… #WWEGP
SmackDown could be cooking with KO vs Punk and a Cody vs Randy feud that sticks to their history and stays well away from any needless celebrity involvement. A very exciting month or two ahead…
Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, of course, but Conrad stating that Roman would not be missed in WWE if he left tomorrow and that he has no fanatical fans is one of the most absurd takes we’ve ever seen on here, which covers some ground
@MegaRan Agreed. With the Netflix, ESPN and Saudi money, the E have insulated themselves very well from “if this top star leaves we are done” situations. So money wise they would be fine, but some interest would definitely wane and they’d lose a fair chunk of star power
@HeyHeyItsConrad It doesn’t apply to Roman, though. Roman didn’t come out of nowhere as a big overnight success. His creative went in a different direction and it worked a lot better for him. It literally happened for The Rock. With Austin. With John Cena. Would you apply the term to them too?
We didn’t say Roman is the GOAT or in the conversation. In our reply we even acknowledge his initial push as a face was rough and The Bloodline is past its best. As a performer with star power and crossover appeal? He’s huge and not as easily replaceable as you think
They'd just have Heyman make another one.
I can't believe everybody forgets WrestleMania 31, 32, 33, etc. where he was boo'ed out of the building.
Convincing the world that Roman was in the GOAT convo is the greatest trick Heyman ever pulled.
Heyman is the GOAT.
Your whole argument is “they saw something wasn’t working with Roman, changed it, it worked PHENOMENALLY, and he’s the most overrated main eventer of all time because of it”.
They played to his strengths when they turned him heel. What’s wrong with that? At no point have we said he’s the GOAT or in the conversation, but just saying “it’s Heyman and nothing else and he wouldn’t be missed and no fans are fanatical about him” is absurd.
Fully aware what an industry plant is. Just not sure you do know
Do you know what “industry plant” means?
Nobody cared for The Rock until he turned heel. No one cared for The Ringmaster until he became Stone Cold. No one cared for John Cena until he turned heel and started rapping.
They butchered Roman’s initial babyface run, shifted gears (like they should have done the night after Mania 32 or 33) and it worked. Crowds have continued to react to him. Jalen Brunson is throwing up his taunt during the NBA Finals. He’s now appearing in movies and on Jimmy Fallon.
You seem to be pissed off that Roman has become hugely popular and has maintained that popularity with a large section of the WWE fanbase. If he’s not your cup of tea in-ring or as a promo, absolutely fine. Everyone has their preferences. But saying “oh well it’s Heyman and nothing else” is berserk. If it was so simple why are we not talking about multiple time WWE champions Cesaro, Ryback and Curtis Axel? Surely Austin Theory should be far more over by now too?
He was hugely over with The Shield until Vince force fed the babyface push in 2015 when everyone wanted Daniel Bryan. Also, saying he needed Sami, The Usos and Heyman to get over? Everyone needs someone else to get over. Where’s Austin without Bret and then Vince? Where’s Rock without Austin and Foley?
Roman is starring in movies now, has Jalen Brunson doing his taunt during the NBA Finals and has the crowd in the palm of his hand whenever he enters the ring. His initial push was hard to watch and The Bloodline is done to death, but his star power is undeniable
Across two nights, it really felt like WWE delivered with this year’s #SummerSlam. Several excellent matches, some unforgettable moments and pretty much everyone booked in the right manner. Now let’s see if they can build on momentum gathered over this weekend
Another classic for Roman and Seth to add to their ridiculously full catalogue. Clean finish, no shenanigans, perfectly booked. Loved it from start to finish #SummerSlam
