Wyoming State Forestry recently assisted with a fire on State Trust Lands.
Snowpack in Wyoming is currently below average. Be aware of current fire conditions, even in the winter months and take proper precautions.
Congratulations to Kelly Norris. She was selected to be the Wyoming State Forester during a special meeting of the Wyoming State Board of Land Commissioners. Please join us in congratulating Kelly and wishing her well in her new official role.
June is #NationalCampingMonth! Always follow the advice from Smokey Bear, "keep campfires small and to a manageable size, always have a bucket and shovel nearby and be sure your fire is completely out before leaving it".
Thoroughly extinguishing a campfire is the key to wildfire prevention—be sure to pour lots of water, stir with a shovel, and continue to add water until all material is cool. If it's too hot to touch, it's too hot to leave!
Wyoming District Forester, Dick Terry, a lifelong resident of the forest, shares his thoughts on maintaining a healthy forest ecosystem.
