I'm posting Claude Certified Architect exam notes in public.
Domain 2 so far:
• 2.1 Tool Interface Design
• 2.2 Structured Error Responses
• 2.3 Tool Distribution & Tool Choice
• 2.4 MCP Server Integration
If you are sitting the exam, or wiring Claude to real tools, follow along.
I post the trap, the rule, and the config — not a syllabus dump.
Full 2.4 article is up. Next posts break out the bits that show up on the exam.

Let’s connect and grow together! 🚀
The fastest way to blow your context window:
“Let me read the entire codebase first.”
Hundreds of files. Most of them irrelevant.
The exam wants this instead:
1. Grep for the function, class, error, or feature
2. Read only the relevant files
3. Follow imports and exports
4. Grep again for consumers and wrappers
🎯 Discover first. Read second.
Expand only when you have a reason.
Every file in your context should earn its seat.
Don’t **Read an entire file and Write it back**
just to rename a function.
**Edit** is the default for targeted changes.
Give Claude the **old text** and the **new text**.
It changes only that specific part.
If Edit says the match isn’t unique:
1. **Widen the anchor** → add more surrounding text
2. Use **`replace_all: true`** → if every match should change
3. **Read + Write** → only if needed
⚠️ A non-unique Edit is not a failed Edit.
Your anchor was just too short.
🎯 **Escalation:**
**Edit → Widen the anchor → `replace_all` → Read + Write**
