🚧 ROAD REPAIRS SHOULD NOT BECOME ROAD HAZARDS
Sometimes I honestly wonder about the way we carry out road repairs in Kenya. You use a certain road every single day, then one morning you wake up and find that part of it has been dug up or damaged for repairs but there are no clear signs, barriers, warning lights or proper markings to alert road users.
The biggest problem is when the work is left unfinished for days or even weeks. A driver or rider who has never seen the road under construction can approach at normal speed, only to suddenly discover that the road has been dug up.
For bodaboda riders, this can be extremely dangerous. You can be riding at speed, hit an unexpected trench or loose surface and find yourself on the ground before you even understand what happened.
We appreciate road development and maintenance, but road works must also be done with road users' safety in mind. Put up visible warning signs, barriers and proper markings, especially at night, and complete the work within a reasonable time.
Road safety starts with all of us but those carrying out road works also have a responsibility to protect the people using those roads. 🦺🏍️🚗
What do you think have you ever encountered an unmarked road repair that nearly caused an accident?
To every non-Jew who stands with Israel when it’s unpopular: thank you.
You saw past the propaganda, the campus mobs, and the moral inversion, and chose truth over tribal fashion.
That takes actual courage.
Laura Flora, a Form Three student at Vokoli Girls High School, was brutally killed on Wednesday night, during a home robbery in the Kefinco estate on the outskirts of Kakamega town.
Armed thieves gained access to the compound by scaling a perimeter wall in the early hours of Thursday morning. They entered Laura's bedroom, where she was asleep, by using a rope to pull open the door.
The gang tied her up and struck her on the head with a blunt object, leaving her unconscious.
The assailants then broke into her parents' bedroom. They confronted her father, James Owich, demanding money and mobile phones. They threatened to kill Laura if they did not comply, unaware that they had already inflicted fatal injuries upon her.
After the robbers fled with the family's mobile phones, Mr. Owich rushed to his daughter's room, untied her, and immediately drove her to the hospital. Tragically, she was pronounced dead on arrival.

Vile Good Samaritans walipigia ambulances simu, waliambiwa walipe 15K kwanza. Hadi polisi akakuja, na bado ambulances zikakataa kuja. Mosiria amefika kwa scene kitu 8:40 Pm , akajaribu kupigia ambulances simu, anaambiwa alipe 15K kwanza. Imagine, amepigia over five hospitals, wakiitisha pesa kwanza.
Vile waliona jamaa wa nduthi ako mbaya, ndio akawekwa kwa matatu akapelekwa hosi. Sasa, after almost one hour, Mosiria hakuchoka ametafuta ambulance ndio imefika sai.
Aki, we need fast responses to emergencies. Most people die juu ya kukosa kupelekwa hosi on time. The government needs to do better and put in place a reliable emergency response system where ambulances can respond immediately without demanding payment first. Lives are being lost because of delays that can be prevented. We need a faster, more accessible and well-coordinated emergency response system in this country.
