Today was a hugely worrying day but ultimately a very successful one…

McMuffin developer glaucoma recently. A very serious eye issue. It got so bad we were advised the eye had to come out as it was swelling and dangerous. Not a big deal for most dogs but because McMuffin is a cancer survivor and has other health issue the vets warned surgery might not be straightforward. It was dangerous. After lots of chats and different opinions we went ahead with it.

I didn’t sleep a wink last night and this morning I made sure to spend plenty of time with her walking and playing with her as I was worried.

The great news is the surgery was a big success. The eye is out and McMuffin is in a great mood running around, wanting to play and eating heartily. We’ll have to keep it clean and let it heal but a great start.

It might seem bad to lose an eye but I’ve loads of dogs with one eye and it doesn’t affect their quality of life. McMuffin couldn’t see out of it anyway recently and she fine.

She’s beaten cancer and countless other challenges in the last 9-10 months. Her immune system is weak and she is old. But she enjoys every moment of her life.

She had loads of character already but now she will be even more sassy and good looking as the one eyed beagle who never gives up 🥰🥰🙏🙏
