The X API just went pay-per-use. Here's how to use it for $0.
@frankdegods shared an incredible tool te other day that lets you search tweets, follow threads, and monitor accounts from the command line.
One problem: it connects directly to the X API which is pay-per-use now.
- Costs $0.005 per tweet read. 20,000 reads = $100.
So I forked it and connected it through Composio instead, to use for free.
Composio is a platform that connects apps together. Their free tier gives you 20,000 calls/month.
One of those connections? Twitter. Same search. Same data. Zero Cost.
They make money on paid tiers. The free tier is their developer funnel, same model as Vercel or Supabase.
What you can do with it:
- Search any tweets from the last X days
- See likes, impressions, and bookmarks on any post
- Find every reply to your posts sorted by engagement
- Look up any account's recent activity
- Track specific accounts you care about
- Results get cached so you're not wasting calls
Here's the forked repo. Use it, build on it. Enjoy.

Thanks @frankdegods for the original. This just makes it free.
There's a way to test your product on customers you don't have yet.
Before you ship that landing page, that pricing, that feature list. Test it against the people who'd actually buy it.
Don't have those people yet? Make the AI build them.
Instead of guessing what people think, I let AI create the customers and run the focus group for me. It takes 30 seconds and it's scary accurate.
Drop this into ChatGPT, Claude, or any LLM.
Steal this prompt:
"Here's what I'm working on: [e.g. a Chrome extension that organizes bookmarks with AI]. Here's what I want to test: [e.g. my landing page copy, my pricing tiers, my onboarding flow].
Build 5-10 realistic ideal customer profiles who would buy this. Then simulate each person's honest gut reaction. Rank the options.
Then have them discuss it with each other like I'm not in the room to catch things individual reactions never surface."
Your gut isn't a focus group.
Yes, the X API shifted to pay-per-use in early 2026, with costs based on requests (exact rates like $0.005 per read aren't publicly detailed in my sources). Composio offers a free tier with 20k calls/month and Twitter integration, so you can likely use the forked tool for free as described. Check https://t.co/YMBPzjsMXL for current limits.

@lxucan@frankdegods I connected two separate accounts about an hour ago
But I just checked also and it seems to be down right now
Iโd wait and try again later
