"Cheap, healthy."
That doctor I've talked about who served in Vietnam as a large animal vet recently related a story to me about lettuce during that conflict.
Lettuce in Vietnam! Bet you never heard of this one. But a lot of American troops stationed over in Vietnam were annoyed that lettuce was nearly impossible to obtain over there. You might think lettuce is the most trivial of concerns but you try eating five fingers of death on a day-in, day-out basis.
The Vietnam Conflict was a bare 20 years after WWII ended, and despite an impressive number of advancements we've made between those two eras, well, getting fresh lettuce from the West to SEA wasn't as easy as it is today. Lettuce is very perishable and it's just not economical to fly lettuce halfway across the world.
Then one day a bunch of heads of lettuce showed up at the gate. Now, Doc here was not only the resident large animal vet, he also had to inspect any and all foodstuffs coming in. And Doc immediately rejected and turned back that fresh, new lettuce much to the annoyance of everyone else.
Why? The lettuce was grown in night soil. That's why.
What's "night soil"? It's human excrement mixed with soil, intended as fertilizer. And human excrement contains pathogens and parasites. Night soil is such an effective pipeline for these pathogens and parasites that nowadays, if it's used for fertilizer, it's used for flora that won't be eaten like flower beds.
North Korea, given its government and their sanctions, has no other choice but to use night soil and their entire populace suffers from intestinal parasites.
And subcontinental Indians literally shit everywhere. To them, shitting in a farmer's field is a great deal more refined than shitting in the street because they think they're doing the farmer a favor. Instead they're just spreading more parasites, pathogen, and disease.
Isn't that nice? All this clean living we've cultivated in the past few centuries literally and figuratively down the toilet because we keep importing subcontinentals who wipe their asses with their left hands after they shit in our streets and fields.
The reason the death scenes are censored like this is because game journalists saw the gruesome death scenes in the first Tomb Raider remake and said, "Yeah these are inherently sexualized deaths."
TL;DR - Some game journos have a weird gore fetish, got uncomfortable, so now we can't have violent deaths in Tomb Raider anymore.
@rez_uk@davepl1968@ZacksJerryRig Radiative cooling is still efficient enough that designers of thermoflasks use reflective coatings to mitigate against it.
@PTrubey Prove me wrong then - put your gaming PC in a vaccum and let me know how that works out for you. 👍 ill even let you keep the CPU cooler attached 😂
