When defending Ant, Mercedes said they were dealing with an issue on Car 63, so they failed to remind him in time. First of all, I have questions about that excuse. Was Bono called over to fix the car too?
Then there was Monaco. The first time, they forgot to serve GRโs penalty during the pit stop. When GR asked again whether they should voluntarily take the penalty to reduce the punishment, they lied to him and said it had already been served. That cost GR points, and they didnโt even appeal immediately after the race.
Whenever something goes wrong for Ant, Mercedes immediately takes the blame and actively fights for him. But when it happens to GR, they do the exact opposite.
And yet Mercedes still claims they support both drivers 100%. Weโre not stupid.
and according to the Stewards, Antonelli hadn't lifted 30m earlier, but >16m earlier<.
Compare that with Russell lifting >96m earlier<.
Also consider the two drivers' lines of sight:
Russell wasn't in a position to see Verstappen so far away (*camera is placed above the drivers' heads too), yet he had slowed down still,
Antonelli couldn't have NOT seen him, yet he was passing him at a speed >3 kph FASTER<
There was just over a tenth between George Russell and Kimi Antonelli entering Turn 15.
By the time they braked for the bus stop chicane (T18), Russell's gap substantially grew despite both drivers being full throttle throughout this period.
Bamboozled by these batteries.
