@KenyonLaing I keep thinking this exact thing! Pregnancy can be/is miserable. It’s physically mentally spiritually emotionally terribly hard. I don’t want anyone to have to experience that without the desire to do so. the quality of mom n baby’s lives matter so much during this time.
I am the “innocent child” pro-lifers love to slap on posters/use to bolster arguments. My mother gave me up for adoption after being unable to access abortion. She was poor, homeless. There was no parenting help. I received a life of pain+abuse. I would’ve rather been aborted.🧵
Today, a new generation of women will be forced to face a future where they cannot seek safe, legal abortions. We have long feared this moment and I’m going to continue to fight like hell to ensure every New Mexico woman has access to reproductive health care.
Every morning, before class, kids are forced to pledge allegiance to a flag represented by legislators who go on vacation immediately after 19 children are brutally murdered while sitting at their desks. What a country.
As long as I'm governor, New Mexico will always be a state that protects women and their family's right to make their own decisions about health care. #BansOffOurBodies#RoevWade
End the filibuster. Codify #RoeVWade with a national law protecting abortion rights. Expand the Supreme Court. Stop this horrifying injustice in its tracks.
One thing that's been a little hard is how the media has, very correctly, been lifting up the humanity of Ukranians who live in fear under Russian bombs.
That should have also happened for Afghans, Iraqis, and Yemenis.
I've been asked to teach/talk about Thanksgiving stuff and Natives and erasure and blah blah in different contexts. Listen, my answer will ALWAYS be: NO. I'm not your token Indian. And unless you're my students or my son's classmates, I will never have time to educate you.
