Gynecology as a whole is sexist, racist, and ableist. By virtue of the fact that it was built on these things and these things are still very much alive and well today in the filed.
Don't believe it's sexist? Ask a woman with endometriosis, vaginismus, or PCOS how difficult it
@NHSDDCCG That may make women less likely to screen. Both these statements are true, but the way you say it gets different results.
Women deserve to be given all the information and decide for themselves if they want to participate in cervical screening without all this manipulation.
@NHSDDCCG It's easy to manipulate data to make things sound the way you want them to. You can say "2 women die every day of cervical cancer" and that sounds scary / pushes people to have smear tests, but when you say that "cervical cancer is rare and affects less than 1% of the population
I'm not antivaxx, but I do think that people have the right to question vaccines without being attacked. Questioning everything, incudling vaccines is what keeps society moving forward and keeps us learning, we cannot silence people questioning pharmaceutical companies
@NorelleFeehan@BoggyLuuuu Allergic reactions and side effects also exist with most medical procedures no matter how minor and safe they maybe considered, some doctors are negligent. People should do their own research and if they research enough with good sources they can draw their own conclusions.
@Charlie95539425 It's really not, you can acknowledge some vaccines are safe and believe that more research needs to be done on others, or that they're out right harmful. And you can question vaccines without being antivax.
It's this kind of divide that makes people scream antivaxxer at anyone
@JustWhatcause@nature_hub To eggs. We know this is a common reaction, yet their doctor at the time denied that allergic reactions to the flu shot can even occur and scolded them for antivax instead informing them of what we know to be a fact about the flu shot.
We combat issues like this by asking
@DrPaulaGordon@BrianChutskoff@jayme_poisson@jenngunter I would take Dr Gunters opinions a lot more seriously had she not gone out of her way to yell from the rooftops that women suffering from post LEEP procedure side effects were wrong and implied they are making up their symptoms.
These side effects ruined lives and all Dr Gunter
I'm pleased to announce that I will be hosting @twss_movement's #podcast. This is a project I've been involved in since day one, & one I'm truly honored to be a vocie of.
As a survivor of medical abuse & sexual abuse by doctors rising awereness for these issues is something I'm
@IntactCervix Publicity to all the stories of assault and abuse, that would make them look very good. Especially considering that they advocate for pelvic exams under the excuse of them being essentially a sex act.
@IntactCervix I would bet you my next 6 months pay that not a single negative story will make the cut, it'll all be positive lovely stories about how gynecology saved someone's life. God knows they'll do anything to silence the women that gynecology has hurt, they're for sure not going to give
