The Canadian flag will fly at half-mast on federal buildings across Canada.
All Canadians stand with the service members at CFB Wainwright, their families, and their community.
Thanksgiving is a chance to pause and give thanks for who and what we value most.
It’s a chance to give thanks for our country — for the rights, freedoms, and opportunities we enjoy because we are Canadian.
Happy Thanksgiving, Canada.

On October 7, 2023, Hamas terrorists carried out a savage attack on Israel, the deadliest attack against Jews since the Holocaust. 1,200 people were killed & over 200 were taken hostage. Among those killed were 8 Canadians including Alex Look. May their memories be a blessing.
Was an absolute pleasure working across the aisle with @ScottAAitchison. Working with integrity he is a reminder of what MPs can accomplish when they take their role seriously, focus on making a contribution, and a willingness to work on behalf of Canadians.
Wishing you the best!
I have made the difficult decision to resign my seat following the conclusion of the fall parliamentary session. After 30 years of public life, it is time for a new chapter where I will explore new opportunities.
From being elected to Huntsville Town Council and Muskoka District Council at the age of 21, to serving as Mayor of Huntsville and, for the past seven years, as your Member of Parliament, it has been the honour of my lifetime to serve you and represent our community.
Whether it was in the council chambers, or the halls of Ottawa, I worked to build consensus, cut through the bureaucracy, and make life better for the people who placed their trust in me. I carried myself with the same values of the town that raised me: respect, decency, and looking out for your neighbour.
My time as Shadow Housing Minister has allowed me to contribute to a fundamental shift in the national debate on housing. All levels of government have recognized the burden over regulation and excessive taxes and fees place on housing affordability. Our Conservative team can be proud of the work we have done on this file and I know the team will continue this work after my departure.
To the people of Parry Sound–Muskoka who placed their trust in me, and those who I disagreed with but promised passionate representation to, I hope I have made you proud.
I want to thank my incredible staff who have served me and the people of Parry Sound–Muskoka with distinction. None of this would have been possible without you.
To my caucus colleagues and Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre, it has been a privilege to serve alongside you. I have been fortunate to meet Canadians from coast-to-coast who are counting on us to champion efforts to make life more affordable for all Canadians. I know you will continue this mission.
Sincerely,
Scott Aitchison, M.P.
Canada has the lowest marginal effective tax rate in the G7 for new business investment.
That’s going to drive more investment into Canada. That means more jobs, more opportunities, and a stronger economy for all.
Here's the Go Fund Me on behalf of the Canadian Jewish Community for the officer wounded heroically defending the Belleville synagogue https://t.co/9Tnp0VOP9E
I'm a journalist. And I happen to be Jewish. On Yom Kippur I went to a synagogue service in Toronto and was met by protesters trying to taunt and intimidate me from entering the building. 1/5
Thinking of the Jewish community in Belleville shaken by this latest shooting, on the holiest of days. Praying for a prompt recovery of the officer shot. https://t.co/OoqfBWrxCt
Came home from synagogue on Yom Kippur to see the horrific and despicable news about the shooting at Sons of Jacob synagogue in Belleville. One police officer was shot and our hearts are with him as we pray for a speedy recovery. We all stand with the devastated community.
Last night, on the holiest night of the Jewish calendar, a shooting took place outside the Sons of Jacob Synagogue in Belleville.
A police officer was shot and the community has been left shaken.
Jewish people must be able to worship safely. To live free, open, proud Jewish lives. Canada’s government will do everything in our power to support law enforcement in ensuring that the perpetrator is held accountable to the fullest extent of the law.
My thoughts are with the injured officer and his family, and the entire Jewish community.
During days of reflection for Jews, @YaaraSaks calls out the importance of the "forbidden conversation"... "Our young people keep asking these tough questions..."

This was never about truth or a healthy debate, but about grifting off bigoted views of Indigenous Peoples and the trauma of Residential School Survivors. Making money of it is a new low for Rebel News.
After the week Canadians just had, this GDP report matters more than usual.
Economy grew 3.3% in Q2, fastest in 3 years. No recession after all.
In an anxious country, this is evidence we can take the hit and keep going. Reassurance + agency.
Exactly what my polling says Canadians are craving right now.

A lot feels uncertain, but here's what I know: Canada has preferential market access to 1.5 billion consumers today, and growing -- just like our determination to build an economy that is prosperous, resilient, and secure for every single Canadian 🇨🇦
I met with Julie Grant, Australia’s eSafety Commissioner, in Sydney to discuss our shared work to make online spaces safer, particularly for children and young people.
In an increasingly digital world, Canada is committed to working with our partners to address online harms.
Canada welcomes that the U.S. is now withdrawing its positions on discoverability and labelling and is confirming that measures to promote French language and Canadian culture will not be subject to future U.S. trade actions.
We look forward to further constructive U.S. clarifications on their other positions which would create the possibility of a mutually beneficial trade agreement that respects Canadian sovereignty.
The name Lake Ontario comes from the Wendat word Ontari’io, which, appropriately, means “the lake is beautiful, the lake is big”.
The name is more than 400 years old, predating both the Confederation of Canada and the Declaration of Independence of the United States of America.
We know that America is changing. Their trading relationships, their foreign policies, their national monuments, their hydronyms.
Canadians also know that naming reality means calling it Lake Ontario – then, now and always.
