The Afar people in the Dankalia region of Eritrea need immediate attention! For years, they have been facing significant challenges due to ongoing neglect. They have limited access to healthcare and education and are prevented from engaging in their primary livelihoods, which include fishing and trade along the Red Sea.

Recently, the community in Tio has been severely impacted by flooding caused by heavy rains, displacing hundreds of families and destroying many homes.

In addition to this, we have received reports of a cholera outbreak in Tio, affecting several hundred residents and resulting in deaths. It is deeply concerning that local authorities have not taken swift action to assist those affected. There is a critical shortage of medicine and healthcare facilities to meet the growing needs.

We therefore call upon local authorities Minstry of Health Eritrea 🇪🇷 and international humanitarian organizations to intervene immediately and provide life-saving support, especially to vulnerable groups such as children, the elderly, and women.
