قيادة «ياك» في نيويورك برئاسة الخضر السليماني تلتقي السيناتور أندرو غونارديس

في إطار تعزيز حضور الجال��ة الجنوبية وعلاقاتها بالمؤسسات الأمريكية، عقدت قيادة منظمة «ياك» في نيويورك، برئاسة رئيس المنظمة الخضر السليماني، لقاءً عبر الاتصال المرئي مع عضو مجلس شيوخ ولاية نيويورك، السيناتور أندرو غونارديس، لبحث أولويات الجالية وتطوير مسارات التعاون والعمل المشترك.

وناقش اللقاء تعزيز المشاركة المدنية والمناصرة وتمكين الشباب وبناء القدرات والتواصل مع المؤسسات الحكومية والتشريعية، بما يسهم في ترسيخ حضور أبناء الجالية كجزء فاعل ومؤثر في المجتمع الأمريكي، وتعزيز قدرتهم على إيصال احتياجاتهم ومظالمهم والدفاع عن مصالحهم عبر المؤسسات والقنوات الأمريكية.

كما تناول اللقاء الارتباط الوثيق للجالية الجنوبية بما يجري في اليمن والجنوب، وتداعيات الصراع على الأسر والمجتمعات. وأكدت قيادة «ياك» أن أبناء المهجر لا يتابعون هذه الأوضاع من بعيد، بل يتحملون جانباً كبيراً من تبعاتها عبر دعم الأسر وسد فجوات معيشية وخدمية وتعليمية، والمساهمة في دعم المدارس وحتى رواتب المعلمين في بعض المناطق، ما يجعل الاستقرار ومستقبل الصراع قضية تمس الجالية بصورة مباشرة.

وأسفر اللقاء عن تعزيز علاقة العمل وفتح قناة تعاون وتواصل مستمر بين مكتب «ياك» في نيويورك ومكتب السيناتور غونارديس، للعمل على معالجة أوجه القصور، وتوسيع فرص المشاركة والمناصرة، وتعزيز وصول صوت الجالية إلى المؤسسات وصناع القرار.

ويأتي اللقاء ضمن مسار «ياك» لبناء جالية أكثر تنظيماً وحضوراً وتأثيراً في المشهد الأمريكي، وأكثر قدرة على خدمة مصالحها وحمل قضايا أهلها ومجتمعاتها إلى دوائر التأثير وصنع القرار.

YACC Leadership in New York, Led by President AlKhadher Sulaiman, Meets with Senator Andrew Gounardes

As part of efforts to strengthen the Southern community’s presence and ties with American institutions, YACC’s leadership in New York, led by its president, AlKhadher Sulaiman, held a virtual meeting with New York State Senator Andrew Gounardes to discuss the community’s priorities and explore ways to advance cooperation and joint action.

The meeting addressed ways to strengthen civic engagement, advocacy, youth empowerment, capacity-building, and engagement with government and legislative institutions. The discussions also focused on strengthening the community’s role as an active and influential part of American society and its ability to voice its needs and grievances and advocate for its interests through American institutions and channels.

The meeting also addressed the Southern community’s close connection to developments in Yemen and the South, as well as the impact of the conflict on families and communities. YACC’s leadership emphasized that members of the diaspora are not merely observing these conditions from afar. They bear a significant share of the consequences by supporting families, helping meet livelihood, service, and education needs, and contributing to schools and, in some areas, even teachers’ salaries. This makes stability and the future of the conflict issues of direct concern to the community.

The meeting strengthened the working relationship and established a channel for continued cooperation and communication between YACC’s New York office and Senator Gounardes’s office. The two offices will work to address existing gaps, expand opportunities for civic engagement and advocacy, and ensure that the community’s voice reaches institutions and decision-makers.

The meeting forms part of YACC’s efforts to build a Southern community that is better organized, more visible, and more influential in the American public sphere, and better able to advance its interests and bring the concerns of its people and communities to centers of influence and decision-making.

Amid the ashes of war and the hardship of displacement, moments like these bring smiles and restore a sense of warmth and safety to those who lost their homes in search of a chance to live.

Alkhadher Sulaiman Attends U.S. Reception Marking 250 Years of American Independence

Alkhadher Sulaiman, President and Founder of YACC, attended a reception hosted by Neil W. Hop, Chargé d’Affaires of the United States, commemorating the 250th anniversary of American independence.

The reception brought together senior officials, diplomats, and distinguished guests, providing an important platform for engagement and strengthening ties with international partners.

Sulaiman’s participation reflects YACC’s growing engagement with U.S. and international diplomatic circles and its continued efforts to build meaningful partnerships and expand channels of cooperation.

During the reception, Sulaiman met with Chargé d’Affaires Hop, where they exchanged views on the importance of sustained engagement and constructive cooperation.
