My chem professor kept “forgetting” to log my lab hours. I needed 40 to pass. I did 46.
I emailed: “Can you update my hours in the system? I’ve been signing in.”
He replied: “If it’s not in my book, you weren’t there.”

I didn’t argue.
Because the department head said: “He’s tenured. He doesn’t make mistakes.”
So I started clocking in on my phone too.

Every lab, I took a selfie with the timestamp and the whiteboard date behind me.
Saved them in a folder called “Just In Case.”
Kept showing up.

Checked my grade portal mid-semester.
He logged me for 18 hours. Said I was “at risk of failing.”

I didn’t yell.
I compiled all 46 timestamped selfies, the sign-in sheet photos I took after each class, and two videos of me asking him lab questions while the clock was visible.
No commentary. Just sent the folder to the department head and dean.

Turns out he’d been shaving hours for students who “asked too many questions.”
I was just the first one with a paper trail.

He got a formal reprimand + I got full credit. Had to finish the semester under a different prof.
And somehow…
I’m the one other students call “a snitch.”
Apparently, in college, documenting your work is cheating.
But proving a professor falsified records?
That makes me the problem.
